One of the most anticipated films in recent times, Vijay’s Thalapathy 64 being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maanagaram and the recently-released blockbuster, Kaithi, was announced for a summer 2020 theatrical release. Being produced by Vijay’s close relative, Xavier Britto, under the XB Film Creators banner, the team had recently made a major casting change in the form of Malayalam actor Antony Varghese of Angamaly Diaries and Jallikattu fame being replaced by Kaithi antagonist, Arjun Das. Now, Arjun Das has taken to his social networking pages to pen a heart-warming detailed note in which he goes on to express his gratitude to Vijay, director Lokesh Kanagaraj, producer Xavier Britto and line producers Lalit Kumar and Jagadish for casting him in Thalapathy 64. Check out his statement below:
Arjun Das left fans everywhere mighty impressed with his performance as the drug-peddling gangster Anbu in Kaithi and many being stunned by his raw and thick baritone voice. Post his impressive act as the villain in Kaithi, fans have been raving about his inclusion in Thalapathy 64, which recently wrapped up its second schedule. It is believed that ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi is expected to begin filming his portions for Thalapathy 64 next with Arjun Das also set to come on board for the third schedule as well. As of now, it is unknown whether Arjun will be playing the antagonist or one among the many villains as being speculated by fans and will be known only when the Thalapathy 64 teaser or trailer is released. Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music while Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead followed by Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, 96 actress Gouri G. Kishan, popular VJ Ramya Subramanian among others being cast in major supporting roles.
"I see a lot of genuine concerns..." - Kaithi producer's viral statement
By Vivek Raj | Galatta | 12:02 PM
Actor Karthi’s Kaithi, which came out in theatres this Diwali last month, has gone on to become the biggest hit in the star’s career till date. The action thriller directed by Maanagaram fame Lokesh Kanagaraj under the joint collaboration of Dream Warrior Pictures and Vivekananda Pictures banners has gone on to receive a thumping response from fans and critics alike with the film still continuing to draw audiences to theatres in strong numbers. With the makers last week releasing the Kaithi original soundtrack composed by Sam C. S., the film is now out starting today on the over-the-top (OTT) media service channel, Hotstar. That said, there has been some chatter online among theatre owners and a certain section of fans who state the film has been released on the OTT platform a little too early despite the pre-fixed 30 day window for them to be unveiled on the digital platform. Producer S. R. Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures has taken to his Twitter page now to put across a statement addressing the concerns saying the audience coming to theatres will eventually decrease, but the loss that will be incurred from piracy and less terms from the third week can be compensated for producers only through this medium. Check out his tweet below:
Karthi played the role of a convict named Dilli in Kaithi, which has also released in Telugu as Khaidi. The film revolves around Karthi, a cop played by Narain, a group of college students inside a police station and a band of dacoits headed by Arjun Das and Harish Uthaman with a drug haul forming the core plot point. Kaithi also includes Vijay TV Dheena, Mariam George, Deepthi, Ramana, Hareesh Peradi, Malavika Avinash, Chetan among others in crucial roles along with Sathya N Sooryan for the cinematography and Philomin Raj taking care of the editing.

Breaking: Karthi's Kaithi to be remade in this language - massive update!
By Arvind Sundaram | Galatta | 12:46 PM
Karthi's Kaithi is already declared a super hit at the box office and the film has not yet completed its full run. This Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is right now running in about 200 screens with a good occupancy. Meanwhile, we have now got an exclusive update about this film. Our sources inform that the film is going to be remade in Kannada and the initial talks have already begun. In addition, we are told that S.R.Prabhu's Dream Warrior Pictures, which bankrolled Kaithi, will be producing the Kannada remake as well.
If the project materializes, it will mark Dream Warrior Pictures' debut in the Kannada film industry. The talks are said to be on with a leading star to reprise Karthi's role. We are not sure if Lokesh will be directing this film, considering his plan of action for the next few months. It is unlikely for him to helm the venture since he is currently busy with Thalapathy 64 and will either start Kaithi 2 or the rumoured Kamal Haasan or Suriya project, after wrapping up the Vijay film.
Kaithi is about a released prisoner who wants to meet his daughter for the first time but gets unwittingly drawn into a fight between gangsters and police. Kaithi released for the festive occasion of Diwali along with Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil and opened to highly positive reviews from the critics and the general audience.

Through a post on his Facebook wall, producer SR Prabhu has announced that Kaithi is currently running in 350 screens, in the third week after release! This is a massive achievement as now Kaithi has overtaken Bigil in the number of screens it is playing in, currently! Also, the fact that no big movies have released in the past two weeks has been a major factor in contributing these many screens for Kaithi. Even in overseas markets, Kaithi has been performing amazingly well and has been getting a lot of acclaim. The number of footfalls have also been increasing in recent days.
Kaithi is a movie with no heroine or songs but has still reached very well among the audiences based purely on the story, screenplay and powerful performances from the stars. Narain, KPY Dheena, Harish Uthaman, Maryan George and Arjun Das play crucial roles in this movie, which has music by Sam CS, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Philominraj! With no big movie releasing this week too, we can expect another solid week at the Box Office for Kaithi.

Karthi's Kaithi grosses over 1 Crore in Chennai City collections in just 3 days!
By MKV | Galatta | 03:03 PM
Kaithi, starring Karthi in the lead and directed by Lokesh Kanagara, went up against Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil, directed by Atlee, at the Box Office, this Deepavali! The two movies clashed by releasing on the same day and Kaithi could also manage to get only limited number of screens as Bigil had taken over all the top screens across the state. After a slow start at the Box Office on Day 1 (October 25), seeing the massive response for Kaithi, the theatres have began allocating higher number of screens for the movie and the collections have also picked up rapidly.
Industry analysts state that Kaithi's Box Office collections within Chennai city itself, has crossed Rs. 1 Crore, over the first 3 days of release. Reports state that the collection on the three days have been broken down as 0.32 Crores + 0.37 Crores + 0.38 Crores, making it a total of 1.07 Crores, from within Chennai alone. Considering the limited number of screens as well as shows, this is truly remarkable indeed. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has shown that all the expectations heaped on him, have not gone waste.
Starring Karthi as a former convict who has been released after 10 years in prison, waiting to see his only daughter for the first ever time, Kaithi is an intense action thriller. The cast of this movie also includes Narain, Ramana, George Maryan, Harish Uthaman and a number of others. Bankrolled by Tiruppur Vivek for Vivekananda Films in collaboration with SR Prabhu & SR Prakashbabu for the Dream Warrior Pictures banner, Kaithi has music by Sam CS. This is a movie without any heroine, comedy track or songs and has yet turned out to become a blockbuster in the making. Congratulations to the Kaithi team!

This Deepavali is turning out to be an amazing time at the Box Office. Only two big movies were released on the occasion of Deepavali and they were Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil and Karthi's Kaithi. There were heavy expectations for both these movies as Thalapathy Vijay is a name that just pulls in legions of crowds and Kaithi's director Lokesh Kanagaraj made a mark with his very first movie and fans were eagerly waiting to see what he would do in his next. Both Bigil and Kaithi hit the screens on October 25th (Friday) and there was heavy competition amongst the two, even for sharing screens.
Bigil released in more number of screens than Kaithi and it had a massive opening day collection of around Rs. 32 Crores, becoming the second highest grossing opener for Vijay, following Sarkar. Kaithi too got full houses on the first day but the collections were significantly lesser than Bigil. However, industry analysts are reporting that the collections for Kaithi have begun picking up from the second day with more shows being added for this movie. One analyst has posted that the two day collections for Kaithi stand at around Rs. 6.8 Crores in Tamil Nadu alone and that the movie is set to go strong over the next couple of days too.
Kaithi, starring Karthi in the lead, is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and has been bankrolled by Tiruppur Vivek, SR Prabhu and SR Prakashbabu for the Vivekananda Films and Dream Warrior Pictures banners. Sam CS has scored the music for this action thriller, which has no female lead or songs. The movie has been getting rave reviews from all quarters and fans are thronging the theatres to watch it. Kaithi also stars Harish Uthaman, Narain, Ramana, George Maryan and Hareesh Peradi, among others. Sathyan Sooryan has handled the cinematography while Philomin Raj has taken care of the editing.
