It has been a gruelling time for everyone involved with the Bollywood film, Padmaavat.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and jointly produced under the Viacom 18 Motions Pictures and Bhansali Productions banner, Padmaavat formerly titled Padmavati was cleared for its January 25 all-India release by the Supreme Court yesterday after the states of Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan banned the film over protests by Rajput fringe groups.

Now, this Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari starrer has lapped up a big distinction ahead of its release next week.

It has now been confirmed that Padmaavat will be screened at largest cinema theatre in Europe, the reputed Le Grand Rex theatre in Paris, France, which has a 2800 seating capacity.

It must be noted that Rajinikanth’s Kabali was screened at the Grand Rex in 2016.

Vijay’s Mersal too was screened there to a wild response last year.

Expectations for Padmaavat are quite high considering the content and the controversy surrounding the film.

Vishwanth of Kabali fame is now busy in Vikram's Sketch and Lingusamy's Sandakozhi2. In Sketch, he is playing Vikram's friend and this will be similar to Kalaiyarasan's role in Madras.

In Sandakozhi2 with Lingusamy, he is playing Varalakshmi Sarathkumar's husband and this is a bold character who will get into fights to save his family. Looks like he is playing a rustic role and he is in awe of the set which is erected for the film.

Director Ranjith’s approach to the script in Kabali made some annoyed while most loved the way he handled superstar in the movie.

Giving him such an underplayed character similar to the newly released Logan in Hollywood was what made Kabali so famous. But, he’s not going to repeat the same again, said director Ranjith in an interview today.

“While Kaala is going to be a Rajinikanth movie, it won’t be Kabali 2,” he clarified. Kaala is the name of the film produced by Dhanush and is yet another gangster flick.

“I won’t use any of the actors from Kabali to give Kaala a fresh look and something unique to the script,” he added. Let’s hope he’s got another Billa, Baasha in the making for superstar.
