Popular television anchor Bhavna Balakrishnan has carved a niche for herself over the years hosting several TV shows, while also exploring new avenues as a cricket commentator, playback singer and a dancer. Having hosted shows like Super Singer Junior, Airtel Super Singer, and Jodi No.1 on Vijay Television, Bhavna has also been serving as a commentator and garnered a name as one of the most popular sports journalists in India after Mayanti Langer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Recently, Bhavna sat down for a candid conversation with Galatta to talk about her experiences as an anchor and also opened up on her stint on Vijay TV's Jodi No. 1, including the time when she shared the stage with leading Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan, who was her co-anchor on the hit dance competition reality television show. 

Speaking about her time on the reality show, Bhavna explained, "I could not see Sivakarthikeyan as a co-anchor even in Jodi No.1 because he was an entertainer and I was an anchor. So, our roles were very clear. I would produce the content and carry the show forward. He would take care of the entertainment aspects. My job along with Ramya Krishnan would be to get him into the act. These were our roles. And, when the roles are assigned, you will never overlap. And, if there's an emotional moment, Sivakarthikeyan would give me a signal telling me to take care of it. If there's a fun moment, I will step back because whoever can handle it at that point of time, will handle it. It was like that. The only problem I had with Siva was that I would lose my voice because of laughing non-stop. I used to tell myself that I shouldn't lose my voice when we used to anchor. That was during our time together in that one season."

Jabariya Jodi is an upcoming Indian romantic comedy film starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra. It is based on the unique concept of Pakadwah Shaadi and groom kidnapping prevalent in heartland India. Malhotra is playing a Bihari thug in the film, which is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh and is directed by Prashant Singh. Principal photography of the film began on 10 August 2018 in Lucknow, and it is scheduled for theatrical release on 2 August 2019. Right from the moment of its announcement till date, ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam has left film aficionados intrigued.

Jointly being produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is also being made in Telugu as Nawab with music by A. R. Rahman.

A film with a massive star cast, reports have now popped up claiming Arvind Swami and Jyothika are playing a married couple since a wedding scene is said to have been shot featuring them.

Filming has come to a halt owing to the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) on Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which also has Simbu as one of the lead stars.

'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi is said to be appearing as a cop in the film once again after his 2016 hit, Sethupathi.

CCV will also see actor Arun Vijay appearing in a biggie after his Yennai Arindhaal in 2015 and a commendable performance in Kuttram 23.

As for the other female leads, Aishwarya Rajesh is scaling heights after being cast in Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram and Dhanush’s Vada Chennai.

Kaatru Veliyidai made Aditi Rao Hydari a heart-throb and she will once again be seen in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.

An upcoming project titled Thuppakki Munai has just been announced which will see actors Vikram Prabhu and Hansika playing the lead pair. Said to be an action thriller, the film is being directed by Mani Ratnam’s former assistant Dinesh Selvaraj under Kalapuli S. Thanu’s V Creations banner. Vikram Prabhu is said to be playing an encounter specialist in the film, which reportedly has an intriguing plot, as per Hansika. 

It must be noted that Hansika is often called by fans as the current generation’s Khushboo, who acted in one of Tamil cinema’s most popular films, Chinna Thambi, with Vikram Prabhu’s father, Prabhu. Vikram Prabhu’s next film is Pakka while Hansika’s Gulaebaghavali is hitting screens this Friday as a Pongal release.

We have already reported that the multi-talented Kamal Haasan has approached maestro Ilayaraaja to compose music for his next. Titled Appa Amma Vilayattu, this family entertainer will be directed by Malayalam filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar. Amala Akkineni will be paired opposite Kamal Haasan in the Tamil version. Now, there is a buzz that the film will be a bilingual made simultaneously in Hindi also. It is also rumoured that the makers are keen to rope in Sridevi for the Hindi version, which means movie buffs will get yet another chance to see the magical jodi onscreen again.
