Did You know? This popular actor helped Ajith - Shalini for their love!
By Arvind Sundaram | Galatta | 07:39 PM
Thala Ajith fell in love with Shalini and the duo got married in 2000 and there has been no look back since then. Ajith and Shalini are leading a happy life together and they are easily one of the most loved celebrity couples in the country. Having said that, Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban has now shared some interesting unknown stories that happened when Ajith and Shalini were in love with each other. In a way, Kunchacko Boban helped their love grow. In a recent interview, Kunchacko Boban has made an exciting revelation stating that Ajith used to call his mobile number to talk to Shalini.
Before getting married, when Shalini was shooting with Kunchacko Boban for the Malayalam film Niram, Ajith used to call Boban's number to talk to Shalini during shoot breaks. Ajith apparently avoided calling Shalini's number so that their love doesn't get noticed by Shalini's parents. It is said that Shalini kept their relationship very secretive and only Kunchacko knew about it. It was 1999 when the shooting of Niram happened and it was a time when mobile phones weren't common. So, Kunchacko Boban was one of the very few to have had a mobile phone and he had an Ericson mobile.
Whenever Ajith called Kunchacko Boban's number, he used to call Shalini saying 'Sona, AK-47 calling', to avoid getting noticed by Shalini's parents. Sona was the character name Shalini played in Niram and AK-47 denoted Ajith Kumar. This code word was very special for Ajith - Shalini's relationship in their initial stages and this throwback incident has got a lot of people excited. Isn’t this interesting?. Ajith is a very private person and we get to hear about these interesting incidents only through fellow colleagues and actors from the industry who were closely associated with him.
On the work front, Ajith’s next release would be Valimai which is directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP. Ajith will be seen playing the role of a cop in this action adventure drama that has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Kaala fame Huma Qureshi plays the female lead in this film. The shooting of Valimai is expected to resume when everyone is declared safe from the pandemic. Valimai, being a big budget film planned to be shot on a lavish scale, the makers might not be able to shoot with social distancing and will have to wait until things get under control.

The whole world is heavily affected because of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. This has caused many popular events across the world, including sporting events, political events and other such, to be cancelled. Film shooting has also been cancelled due to the nation-wide lockdown and the need for social distancing amidst the rapidly spreading Corona Virus. But on the other hand, thousands of people who depend on daily wages are starving. But people are more concerned about Vanitha’s family affair in recent times.

Notably, Vanitha made her silverscreen acting debut with Chandralekha, that starred Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Chandralekha was directed by Nambirajan and had music scored by Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja. It looks Vanitha is a fan of both Thalapathy Vijay and Thala Ajith Kumar.

After Rajini and Vijay, Thala Ajith receives bomb threat call! Important details here!
By Arvind Sundaram | Galatta | 05:42 PM
It looks like this is the season of bomb threats. A few weeks back, we heard that Superstar Rajinikanth's residence in Poes Garden received a bomb threat from an unknown stranger. A few days later, it was revealed that Thalapathy Vijay's house received a bomb threat. The Police officials later revealed that these bomb threat calls were fake and hoax. The latest to join that list now is actor Ajith Kumar. Yes, according to the latest reports, actor Ajith's house in Injambakkam received a bomb threat earlier today (July 18).
It is said that the Police Control Room received a phone call from a private number stating that a bomb has been implanted at Ajith’s house. However, when the Police Officials and the Bomb Squad executed a search operation, it was revealed that it was a hoax call and there were no threatening objects at his house. This news has come as a sigh of relief for the fans who were curious after hearing about the bomb threat.
With leading actors getting bomb threat calls back to back, this seems to have created a confusion among the people. The Police are said to be tracking the guy who was behind this bomb threat call. An official word regarding this controversy, either from Ajith’s side or Police officials, is awaited.
On the work front, Ajith is currently acting in Valimai, an action thriller, directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP. This film will feature Ajith as a cop and it is expected to have a lot of high octane action and intense chase sequences which are planned to be shot abroad. Valimai, which has Huma Qureshi as the female lead, will have music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Nirav Shah. The film’s shooting is expected to resume after the pandemic and the exact release date will be finalized only the makers get a clarity about the shooting plans.
Thala Ajith Kumar's learning to fly short film
By Galatta | 07:44 PM
Ashwin Kakumanu started his career with a Gautham Menon film Nadunisi Naaygal and then went on to play pivotal roles in movies like Mankatha with Ajith Kumar, 7am Arivu with Suriya and even played the second lead character in Vijay Sethupathi’s Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara. He is currently working in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kathai and Thollaikatchi. He initially auditioned for a role in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. The director Gautham Menon was close to giving him the role but he unfortunately didn’t make the cut. But Ashwin was noticed by the assistant directors of the film and recommended him for the role as Arjun, the boyfriend of Sameera Reddy's character in Nadunisi Naaygal. Ashwin Kakumanu was later signed to portray a role in Venkat Prabhu's Mankatha which featured an ensemble cast including Ajith Kumar, Vaibhav Reddy and Arjun after Prabhu was impressed with a short film which Ashwin had directed and acted. Ashwin appeared as a local Dharavi police officer, replacing Ganesh Venkatraman who had pulled out of the film. Mankatha released to critical and commercial acclaim in August 2011, with Ashwin gaining recognition for his portrayal.
That film not only gave him a big break but also helped him get close to Thala Ajith Kumar. As we know Ajith is fond and passionate with aeromodelling. He very recently came up with an initiative to use drones to disinfect corona. The initiative went on to become a huge success which was followed in other parts of Tamil Nadu later. Now Ashwin Kakumanu has shared a video that he has shot and edited. It is not some random shortfilm but it is a video of Ajith Kumar testing one of his aeromodelling drones in the run way. You can see the excitement on Ajith Kumar’s face. This video must have been shot a long time ago. Ashwin has even shared some nice words about Ajith on his Instagram space along with the video he shot and edited - “Learning to Fly. Many years ago, I had the opportunity of joining Ajith sir and Arvind sir (DoP of Dheena )on their aeromodelling sessions. This little video is a glimpse into that session. Interesting how commercial drones have evolved over the years. #AjithKumar #aeromodelling #Drone.”
EXCLUSIVE: Ajith worked day and night continuously for 7 days without any break for this film!
By Arvind Sundaram | Galatta | 04:18 PM
Varalaru is an important film in Ajith’s career and it showed the star actor in a completely different dimension. Ajith’s performance was raved by the audience and he featured in triple action in the film. The film was directed by K.S.Ravikumar and had music by A.R.Rahman. In a recent live interaction with Galatta Media, director K.S.Ravikumar shared some interesting information about Varalaru. He said that the film ran into unnecessary production delays due to some misunderstanding between Ajith and the film’s producer S.S.Chakravarthy (Nic Arts).
However, he was all praise for Ajith’s impeccable dedication to complete the film. He said, “It was initially titled Godfather, but later we changed it to Varalaru since the title had to be in Tamil. After the second schedule, there was an unexpected gap and during that break, I went and finished Saravana (with STR). Varalaru is a film that’s very close to my heart. The outline of the film was inspired from Sivaji sir’s Deivamagan.
There were some problems and misunderstandings between Ajith and the producer and the issue went to the Federation and that process consumed a lot of time. So, we had to face a big gap. After sorting out the problems, Ajith told me that he’d give 7 days of callsheet to complete the remaining portions, but I told him that I need 15 days since there are a lot of important scenes to be shot.
Also, we had to shoot scenes for all the three characters and doing it in 7 days wasn’t possible. Ajith told me that he will work day and night for the 7 days continuously and help us complete the project and as said, he worked tirelessly for all the seven days without any rest. We will not be normal if we didn’t sleep for two or three days, but this man was awake for seven days continuously (with minimal breaks) and shot for us. He never troubled us in the set because of the problems he had with that producer and he was a complete professional.
His dedication, that too, after becoming a star, was very appreciable. I wanted to show Varalaru to my father, but during the delay in the production, he passed away and I couldn’t show it to him. 2005 was a bad year for me. Varalaru had production issues, my father died and two to three films of mine got dropped for various reasons.” You can watch the full interview of K.S.Ravikumar below:

Actor Prithviraj is one of the popular actors in Tamil cinema who is known for his supporting and negative characters in a lot of films. He is more popularly known as Babloo among the Tamil audience. Naan Sigappu Manithan, Pudhiya Mannagral, Thaai Manasu, Aval Varuvala, Time, Vaaranam Aayiram, Payanam are some of his notable films in Tamil cinema. He has also acted in important lead characters in popular Tamil TV serials like Marmadesam, Ramani VS Ramani, Vani Rani, etc. He also participated in the second season of the dance reality show - Jodi Number One and his heated argument with STR is something that the Tamil audience can never forget.
Meanwhile, the talented actor has shared some positive words about his relationship with actor Ajith Kumar and the video featuring his speech, has gone viral among the fans on social media. Talking about the Viswasam star, Prithviraj said, “Ajith was my younger sister’s classmate and he has always been there for her as a bodyguard. Till date, he is in constant touch with her and talks to her regularly. He has given his personal mobile number to her and asked to contact him whenever she needs anything. I think Ajith is the only gentleman in the industry.
Before lockdown, I was eating in a restaurant and at that time, I happened to see Shalini and her daughter. Since both of us haven’t worked together, I was hesitant to go and talk to her. We saw each other but never talked. This happened for the second and third times as well. When I went to the restaurant for the next time, the hotel guy told me that Shalini asked for my contact number and asked if he could share it with her.
I told him to give and immediately, I received a phone call from Shalini. She apologized to me for not coming over and talking to me and said that she didn’t want to disturb me in my personal time. She also said that Ajith was very disappointed after knowing that she didn’t greet or talk to me. Ajith told her (Shalini) that I was his school senior and a good friend to him. This incident shows his upbringing. He never had to tell that to Shalini, but he did. That is why, I say that he is the perfect gentleman in the industry.”
Talking about Ajith, the ace actor will next be seen in Valimai, an intense action drama, directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP. Ajith will be seen playing the role of a cop in this film that features Huma Qureshi as the female lead. Yuvan Shankar Raja is assigned to take care of the musical department of Valimai. Clarification from Ajith Kumar's team regarding Sachy's Tamil film
By Galatta | 01:11 PM
There are rumours doing rounds that Ajith Kumar was supposed to do a film with late Malayalam director Sachy. It is speculated that Ajith Kumar liked Sachy’s recent film Ayyappanum Koshiyum and had even asked him to work on a script for him. It is also stated that Sachy was working on a script for Ajith which he was supposed to narrate in a month’s time. However, when we got in touch with Ajith Kumar’s manager, he denied the news saying no conversation took place between Ajith Kumar and Sachy. Like any South Indian director Sachy might have had the inhabitation to work with Thala which too we do not know. But it is said loud and clear that Ajith Kumar had not approached Sachy to work on a script. Few rumour mongers are trying to use the sympathy waves in their favour. That’s what this rumour is all for say our sources from the industry.
Malayalam screenwriter and director Sachy passed away on the 18th of June at a private hospital in Kerala after having suffered a cardiac arrest. When he was admitted to the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest, his brain had suffered damage. He was admitted to the critical care unit and was on ventilator support. Sachy had undergone a total hip replacement surgery just 10 days before his death. Reports suggest that Sachy was given medicines to maintain his blood pressure, however, he wasn't showing any signs of improvement and eventually lost the battle on June 18th. Sachy, a native of Kodungalloor which belongs to Thrissur district of Kerala, practised as a lawyer in Criminal Law and Constitutional Law for eight years in the High Court of Kerala. During his time at college, Sachy was active in his college film society and theatre, directing several plays. He started of his career in Malayalam Industry by collaborating with writer Sethunath. Their debut movie Chocolate was a success which led them to pair up for several movies. He has directed two films Anarkali and the recently released Ayyappanum Koshiyum which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. A director like Sachy working with Ajith Kumar would have worked wonders on screen unfortunately it couldn’t happen.
