Ace Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 1 is set to take a grand opening in theatres worldwide on September 30 and the buzz for the film is getting bigger with each passing day. Produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the upcoming epic historical film featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman stars Chiyaan' Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan, Trisha as Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini forming the core cast. With the lead characters already being introduced to fans in the Ponniyin Selvan teaser and posters sometime back, the makers have now begun formally presenting more new characters to audiences and that also included Sarath Kumar revealed to be portraying Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, followed by R. Parthiban as his younger brother Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar, and most recently the fan favorite Poonguzhali essayed by actress Aishwarya Lekshmi. 

On Saturday, September 3, the character poster for the beloved Vanathi character played by actress Sobhita Dhulipala was unveiled and gives fans an extended glimpse at her look and attire in Ponniyin Selvan: 1. The Vanathi character poster has been released today after the team introduced Aishwarya Lekshmi's Poonguzhali earlier in the day. Sobhita is making her Tamil cinema debut and she couldn't have asked for a better start by playing an iconic character like Vanathi in Ponniyin Selvan. Described to be "quick-witted, courteous and so much more than what meets the eye", we get our first full-length look at Sobhita as Vananthi in the new PS:1 character poster below:

Promotions for Ponniyin Selvan are being carried out on a consistent basis as the highly-anticipated trailer from the film will be released during the audio launch at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on September 6. The expectations for the film are massive, especially after the teaser received stellar feedback from fans, who are now waiting for more new visuals. Based on legendary writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's Ponniyin Selvan books, the film adaptation is also the first Tamil film to be getting an IMAX release. 

Sai Pallavi's Gargi which released in theatres two weeks back has opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews from the critics and general audience and the film has taken a good opening at the box office. Sai Pallavi's performance is being raved by the people who have watched the film and appreciations have also been coming in for Kaali Venkat's portrayal as Indrans Kaliyaperumal. The film has been noted for its strong content and addressing a socially relevant and important issue and director Gautham Ramachandran has earned a promising name through this venture.

As the film is running successfully in theatres, the makers have now released a new deleted scene from the film which did not make it to the final cut due to various reasons. The scene is a talkie portion between Sai Pallavi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Jayaprakash and it looks interesting. The scene features Aishwarya Lekshmi, the journalist convincing Gargi (Sai Pallavi) to talk to her about the case, however, Gargi resents it. Gargi has music composed by Govind Vasantha and his work was surely one of the highlights of the film.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, RS Shivaji, Kalaimaamani Saravanan, Jayaprakash, Prathap, Sudha, Livingston, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Kalesh Ramanand play supporting roles in this courtroom drama that has music composed by Govind Vasantha. Produced by Ravichandran Ramachandran, Thomas George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Ramachandran under the banner of Blacky, Genie & My Left Foot Production, the film has cinematography handled by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkatu. Written by Gautham Ramachandran and Hariharan Raju, the film has been edited by Shafique Mohamed Ali.

Suriya and Jyotika have presented the Tamil version of Gargi through their banner of 2D Entertainment, ensuring its wide release across the state. Through Gargi, Sai Pallavi has upped the game and she has become a force to reckon with.

Megastar Mammootty's next film was officially launched this morning (July 10) and the pictures from the launch event have been doing rounds on social media. Mammootty will be joining hands with blockbuster director B Unnikrishnan for this new film and the fans have already pinned high hopes on this biggie. Touted to be an action thriller, this film will be bankrolled by RD Illuminations and has story penned by Udaya Krishna, marking his second association with director B Unnikrishnan after Mohanlal's Aaraattu. Unnikrishnan has already worked with Mammootty in Pramani which released in 2010.

Tentatively titled 'Megastar 418', this film will have three female leads - Amala Paul, Sneha, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The makers have made an interesting choice of female leads and details regarding their characters are kept under wraps. Shine Tom Chacko, Dileesh Pothan, and Jinu Joseph will be playing supporting roles. Vinay Rai, who played the villain in the recent Tamil films like Doctor and Etharkkum Thunindhavan has been roped in to be a part of the cast and he is believed to play a negative role. The film was launched this morning, but the shoot is reportedly expected to start only on July 15, Friday, and Mammootty will join the sets from the said date.

Mammootty will be seen playing a police officer in this film. Mammootty's next release will be Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam which is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery. Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam features Ramya Pandian as the female lead and has Ashokan, Chethan Jayalal, Kainakary Thankaraj, and others in important roles. Details regarding the release plans of the movie are yet to be known. Mammootty is also awaiting the release of Rorschach which is a psychological thriller directed by Nisam Basheer and written by Sameer Abdul.

Sharafudheen, Jagadish Kumar, Sanju Sivram, Kottayam Nazeer, Bindu Panicker play crucial roles in this film that has cinematography handled by Nimish Ravi.

Sai Pallavi's next outing as an actor will be Gargi which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The film is set for a theatrical release on July 15 and the promotional activities are happening in full swing. The pre-release / press meet event for the Tamil version of Gargi took place in Chennai earlier this morning (July 7). During the event, actress Aishwarya Lekshmi broke down into tears while talking on stage and the visuals of her crying have made the fans emotional on social media. Worry not! The tears were for a happy reason.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, who is known for acting in films like Jagame Thandhiram, has turned a producer for Gargi and she is one of the producers of the film. An emotional Aishwarya Lekshmi began her speech by saying, "It is an emotional day for me. So, Gargi is a journey of more than 3 years. I am pretty sure I am gonna cry". Tears automatically started to flow down her eyes and Sai Pallavi instantly came over and comforted Aishwarya. Talking for her, Sai Pallavi said, "Aishu (Aishwarya Lekshmi) has travelled with this film for the last 3 years, since the scripting stages and at a time when he (director Gautham Ramachandran) needed monetary and emotional support, she has been there for him and so it is an emotional day for her".

Gautham Ramachandran, for his part, also expressed his heartfelt thanks to Aishwarya for her support. He said, "The first person who came forward to support me was Aishwarya. She had done just three films at that time, but she gave all of her savings to me and asked me to do the film". Suriya and Jyotika will be presenting the film across Tamil Nadu and their presence is sure to make the film reach a wider range of audiences. Gargi is directed by Gautham Ramachandran who had earlier made Richie starring Nivin Pauly.

Arya, who was last seen in Sundar C's horror thriller, Aranmanai 3, has officially announced his next project in Tamil cinema and exciting details regarding the project are known. Arya will be teaming up with director Shakti Soundar Rajan for this new film and it will mark his second outing with the talented director after Teddy which had released earlier this year on the Disney Hotstar platform. This untitled film will be tentatively called Arya 33. Arya took to his official Twitter page to make the announcement on the project and he sounded excited about the same.

Arya's tweet read, "Super excited to begin my next with my brother @ShaktiRajan This is gonna be something special for all of us. Need all ur love and blessings #Arya33". The film was officially launched with a special pooja this morning (October 25) in Chennai and the shoot has also commenced, following the pooja. The first schedule is expected to happen for the next few days in the city. Jagame Thandhiram fame Aishwarya Lekshmi has been officially signed as the female lead of this project which will have Simran playing a pivotal character. Kavya Shetty, Thyagarajan, Harish Uthaman, Gokul, and Bharath Raj are also a part of the film's star cast.

Arya will be producing this film under the banner of The Show People, in association with Think Studios. Shakti Soundar Rajan has retained the core technical team of Teddy for this new project and it includes S Yuva (cinematography), Pradeep E Ragav (editing), and Madhan Karky (lyrics). D Imman will be scoring music for this film. Shakti Soundar Rajan is known for his innovative and exciting ideas and movies like Naaigal Jaakirathai, Tik Tik Tik, Miruthan, and Teddy are solid examples to support that. This new project is touted to be a sci-fi drama that will appeal to all kinds of audiences.

A project that has kept fans created massive curiosity among fans, Ponniyin Selvan, is being billed to be the most expensive film to be made in Tamil cinema. The dream project for ace director Mani Ratnam, filming on Ponniyin Selvan finally kicked off in December 2019 in Thailand and is progressing at a steady pace with several notable top actors on board. Yesterday incidentally saw the release of the Ponniyin Selvan title font by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions taking the excitement for the upcoming historical film to new heights. Among the several stars acting in Ponniyin Selvan, popular Malayalam actress, Aishwarya Lekshmi, is said to be portraying the character named Poonguzhali, and had taken to her Twitter page to finally speak for the first time about being part of the film.

Likewise, soon after the unveiling of the Ponniyin Selvan title font, Tamil actress Aditi Balan of Aruvi fame too had posted the same on her Instagram story while conveying her wishes to Aishwarya Lekshmi with a sweet message saying, "My lover @aishu__ killing it, starting this decade with a bang. too excited for you : )". The buzz over Ponniyin Selvan is only scaling upwards with the passage of each day and that is now evident post the arrival of the title font. An adaptation of acclaimed Tamil writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name, Ponniyin Selvan's cast includes names like 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Kishore, Jayaram, Lal, Riyaz Khan, Ashwin Kakumanu, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman among several other names. Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman is once again scoring music for this Mani Ratnam directorial which has Ravi Varman in charge of the cinematography while Sreekar Prasad will handle the editing.

Actor Vishal's Action hit the theatres on November 15th and the film opened to some decent reviews from the fans. Actor Vishal’s much-awaited film, Action, an action thriller has hit screens worldwide starting today (November 15) and is his reunion with director Sundar. C after Aambala and the unreleased, Madha Gaja Raja. Vishal has been in peak form with his last few releases having chosen scripts that cater to the demand for content among which were Thupparivaalan, Irumbu Thirai and Ayogya. Action produced under R. Raveendran’s Trident Arts has Vishal paired opposite Tamannaah and popular Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi making her Tamil acting debut while comedian Yogi Babu is appearing as the comedy relief. With the film out in theatres now, a sneak peek video from the film has now been released and shows Yogi Babu explaining how he managed to gather information regarding Vishal.

Action has music composed by Hiphop Tamizha followed by cinematography by Dudlee and fights by the stunt choreographer duo Anbariv. The teaser and the trailer showed Vishal and Tamannaah engaging in high octane action-packed stunts with Vedalam fame Kabir Singh Duhan appearing as the antagonist.
