What are the odds that you’ll see a girl inspired by the character of eleven from stranger things? What are the odds that one of the lead characters is inspired by the father in Archie Andrews In Riverdale? What are the odds that you will see an Indian version of End of the F***ing World? Netflix’s most recent offering, “What are the odds”, starred by Abhay Deol and Yashaswini Dayama deals with lots of possibilities revolving around the storyline. A predictable trailer is what the Indian audiences hate and Netflix this time gives a lot to predict.

It seems that two teenagers having almost identical problems in their lives, meet with something out of the context and the bizarre sequence of events makes their love life come together. Yashaswini looks cute in the trailer and seems to do justice with her role, Abhay, however, don’t fit in the character. All in all, the adorable storyline that gives a vibe of End of the F***ing World will make you seated throughout the story. Directed by Megha Ramaswamy, the movie will be premiered on May 22. Hrithik, Farhan, Abhay Deol sing for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

By now, it's common knowledge that Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol would be seen together in Zoya Akhtar's eagerly awaited Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. However, what many people don't know is the fact that besides acting, the trio of Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay have also sung a song in the film.

While Farhan is no amateur when it comes to singing (having sung most of the songs in his debut flick Rock On) and even Hrithik has done his fair share of singing (in Kites and Guzaarish), it was only Abhay Deol for whom this was a completely new experience. Nevertheless, the Dev D actor did manage to croon a few lines.

This song, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, has already been recorded and the musical trio certainly seem pleased with the singing efforts of Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay. This surely will be one of the songs to look forward to next year.

Dibakar Banerjee to team up with Abhay Deol again

After the uproarious welcome given by critics to Love Sex Aur Dhokha, its director Dibakar Banerjee is teaming up with his Oye Lucky Lucky Oye hero Abhay Deol all over again, this time for a political thriller.

Says Dibakar, "It is a political thriller set in a state where a new government has been formed. It will again be in a new cinematic language. But it will be in the conventional format, not the digital format used in LSD. It's written by me and Urmi Juvekar, who was my creative producer on LSD. She's one of the most politically savvy writers I know."

The political thriller will be set in an imaginary state. Says Dibakar, "The state has just formed after clamouring for statehood for a long time and is now poised to get big economic sanctions. Then a political assassination happens."

Dibakar has decided to cast Abhay Deol in the political thriller. "Yes I want Abhay in the political thriller. But now because he has started his own production, we've to work out his dates."

About LSD, Dibakar says, "I never expected so much praise. It's overwhelming. We thought some would get the point. And that would be enough."

But Dibakar regrets not fighting the Censor Board over its decision to remove all references to the caste factor in the first story of LSD. "I regret that. It completely diluted the story. We had no time to contest their decision. And also they were letting so much of the rest go unscathed. They explained to me that anything could happen if there were caste references in the love story. Mobs would burn a scooter, damage a theatre."

Now, Dibakar hopes to see LSD become financially feasible, so he could have the freedom to make the films he wants to. "Ekta Kapoor has marketed LSD like a dream. It couldn't have been any better."

Abhay Deol enthralls audiences at11th Osian's Cinefan Film Festival

Abhay Deol, who impressed one and all with his superlative performance in Dev D earlier this year, took part in the second New Stream Panel discussion at the ongoing 11th Osian's Cinefan Film Festival. The talented actor, who has created a niche for himself doing offbeat roles time and again, was present at the New Stream Panel discussion along with his Dev D co-star Kalki and director Anurag Kashyap.

The New Stream Panel discussion is a new introduction in the Festival, where crew members of some offbeat films made in the mainstream genre share their insights with the audience. Speaking at the discussion, Abhay said, "I was able to emote well in the film because Anurag gave me the freedom to do things naturally and spontaneously."

Abhay also said that festivals like Osian's Cinefan Film Festival provide a perfect platform to serious actors like himself who do not fit in the larger-than-life roles and are not picked up by makers of art cinema who think he belongs to commercial cinema.

The actor, apart from his acting assignments, is also busy with his production house Forbidden Films, which is all set to make an action film Basra set in the Iraqi city of the same name.

Abhay Deol turns producer with action flick Basra

The Deols of Bollywood are synonymous with action, just as Kapoors are synonymous with romance. But one Deol boy took the high road; he did the unexpected and did every kind of role but action oriented; that boy is Abhay Deol.

This unconventional hero of Bollywood now has his own production company called 'Forbidden Films' that is expected to make films that are not typical to Bollywood. Their first venture, titled Basra,is going to see Abhay as the action hero. So, the Deol boy is going to carry on the family tradition by bashing people up on screen.

One wonders if it is a well thought- out strategy as this is his first film asproducer. Abhay states that action, comedy and romance are safe genres and when one becomes a producer, he needs to be cautious and read the market.

But this does not mean that he is following Dharmendra or brother Sunny's footsteps; he clarifies that if others thinkhe is fit to do only a certain kind of movies, he will make movies in which he gets to be different.
