Leading Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal's latest film, Lal Salaam, sees him playing a cricketer alongside Vikranth, with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth making a special appearance. The sports drama film marks Aishwarya Rajinikanth's big comeback to filmmaking and also features music composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman. With Lal Salaam now out in theatres and taking a strong opening, Vishnu Vishal recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to talk about the film, including Rajinikanth's gesture of courtesy in regard to his conversation with his ex-wife Rajini Natraj about his casting. 

Speaking about sharing screen space with Rajinikanth in Lal Salaam and his discussion with his ex-wife, Vishnu Vishal said, "Aaryan's mother's name is Rajini. Her father is actor-director K. Natraj. He's Rajini sir's best friend and is the reason why he named his daughter after him. At the film's press meet recently, I said something despite many people telling me not to. When Aishwarya Rajinikanth spoke to Rajini sir about casting me in Lal Salaam, he was happy. But, he called up Aaryan's mother Rajini and told her about Aishwarya's interest in casting me and asked for her and her father's opinion. Rajini (Natraj) then told him that we are on speaking terms and that Aaryan is extremely happy. She said, 'There are no problems and you all can do the film. This is a happy news.' After that, Rajini sir spoke to Aishwarya and I boarded the film." 

Vishnu Vishal further explained, "There was no real need for him (Rajinikanth) to do that. He didn't do that to seek her permission. His intention was to not leave anybody hurt and it is because of that attitude and heart why he is called 'Superstar'. Actually, I felt proud and happy that such a big star holds his friendship at a high place in his heart and I took it as an example to not hurt anybody in the future under any such circumstances. I got the understanding of calling the person if I were to ever face such a situation. All is good now and she's excited to watch the film." 

Vishnu Vishal will be seen next in the highly-anticipated Lal Salaam releasing in theatres worldwide on February 9. Last seen in the smash hit Gatta Kusthi (2022), the Tamil actor will be seen playing the role of a cricketer in the upcoming Aishwarya Rajinikanth directorial after he last donned the cricket gear for the big screen in Jeeva (2014). Featuring music composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, Lal Salaam also starring Vikranth has Vishnu Vishal sharing screen space with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, who will be making a special appearance as Moideen bhai, with the Ratsasan star in an exclusive interview with Galatta now opening up about his experiences shooting alongside the Tamil cinema icon. 

Speaking about his choice in films that have been working out in his favor, Vishnu Vishal said, "I had a belief in myself, but the people around me didn't. The people around me I'm referring to is that opportunities need to be given in cinema. That's extremely important. Without being given a chance, how will I prove myself? It took me almost 12 years to convince the people who give me a chance to lay their belief in me." He then opened up on Rajinikanth's advice to him on his career during Lal Salaam's shooting stating, "If it's Vishnu, it'll be a good story. And, if's a good story, it will include Vishnu. If a film has Vishnu, it's going to be a hit. That is your identity. Why are you thinking about changing that?" 

Vishnu Vishal further opened up on his interactions with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth and said, "I told sir that I don't have a style of my own and asked for his suggestion. I told him that I'm still searching despite making good films, giving good stories, and that is when he gave me this reply." Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal has completed dubbing for his portions in the highly-anticipated film, Lal Salaam, directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Posting pictures from the dubbing studio on X, the Gatta Kusthi star also shared his feedback of 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's performance, who will be making a special appearance as Moideen bhai in the action sports drama featuring music composed by Academy Award winner A. Lal Salaam marks the second occasion Vishnu Vishal is playing an aspiring cricketer after Jeeva (2014) and this time alongside Vikranth. The buzz for the upcoming film shot up after Rajinikanth's casting was announced, while 1983 World Cup-winning captain and legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev will also be seen making a cameo appearance. There are tremendous expectations for Lal Salaam as it also marks the first time that Rajinikanth is working in Aishwarya's direction after previously headlining his younger daughter Soundarya's directorial, Kochadaiiyaan (2014). 

The promotional material released for Lal Salaam with Rajinikanth, including a teaser and a glimpse, have added to the excitement as they showed what audiences can expect to witness in theatres next month.  The film is also Aishwarya Rajinikanth's big comeback to filmmaking after 3 (2012), Vai Raja Vai (2015), and the documentary Cinema Veeran (2017). Apart from Lal Salaam, Vishnu Vishal has several promising projects in various stages of development starting with Mohandas and Aaryan. He also has in the pipeline sequels like Indru Netru Naalai 2 and FIR 2, including a third-time reunion with hit director Ramkumar after Mundasupatti (2014) and Ratsasan (2018). 

The wait is over for 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's fans everywhere as the teaser for the highly-anticipated Lal Salaam is now out as a special Diwali treat. Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and featuring music composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the upcoming cricket-based film starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages as a grand Pongal release in January 2024. With post-production works currently underway, the much-awaited Lal Salaam teaser released now gives audiences a glimpse at Rajinikanth as Moideen bhai, while also diving into the topic of religion and politics in sports. 

The Lal Salaam teaser starts off showing scenes of a riot and introducing Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth on opposite sides, who are also revealed to be cricket rivals. There are also visuals showing the duo battling it out on the cricket field, with the commentator on the ground informing that the atmosphere is electric akin to an India-Pakistan match. There are intense moments in this glimpse as we see the police storming in, while on the other end, the players are shown to be running away from the spectators who have gathered to watch. The are several dramatic moments in the Lal Salaam teaser before 'Superstar' Rajinikanth makes a fiery entry as Moideen bhai, who takes on bad guys with ease and flair as always. 

The Lal Salaam teaser touches upon the topic of religion in sports and it will be interesting to see how Aishwarya Rajinikanth will be presenting the story after her previous directorials 3 (2012), Vai Raja Vai (2015), and the documentary Cinema Veeran (2017). Although Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth are playing the lead roles, Rajinikanth has a major part in the proceedings, with the supporting cast featuring the likes of Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, K. S. Ravikumar, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai, among others. There will be a lot of expectations for Lal Salaam as it also marks Rajinikanth's next big screen appearance after the blockbuster success of his Jailer this year.

Leading Tamil actor-producer Vishnu Vishal issued a clarification on social media on Sunday, March 26, after a tweet he posted recently went viral on social media. The actor explained that his statement on Twitter a few days back was misunderstood by a few people. He informed that it had nothing to do with his personal life, but was rather on the professional front. Vishnu Vishal stated that trust is the biggest gift one can give others and added that we always take the blame when we fail. He stated that no person should be hard on themselves, while ending his note saying everything else was fine. Taking to Twitter, Vishal Vishal wrote, "My tweeet few days back has been terribly misinterpreted.. It was on  proffessional front n not personal at all.. The biggest gift that we give someone is TRUST And when we fail we always blame ourselves.. We shudn be hard on ourselves THATS ALL I MEANT ALL IS WELL".

On the work front, Vishnu Vishal had a memorable 2022 as his films FIR and Gatta Kusthi went on to become successes. Currently attached to several promising ventures, the Neerparavai and Jeeva actor is filming Lal Salaam, which revolves around cricket and is being directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth under the Lyca Productions banner. The upcoming sports drama also stars Vikranth as a parallel lead and will include a cameo appearance by 'Superstar' Rajinikanth with music being composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. Vishnu Vishal also has in his lineup sequels like Indru Netru Naalai 2 and FIR 2, including Mohandas and Aaryan in various stages of production, and an untitled project with director Ramkumar, which will be a reunion for the actor with the filmmaker after they previously collaborated in Mundasupatti and Ratsasan. 

Leading Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal is teaming up with hit filmmaker Ramkumar for the third time after their Mundasupatti (2014) and Ratsasan (2018). The upcoming film has been announced to be tentatively titled VV21 under the prestigious Sathya Jyothi Films banner, with the actor informing fans of the big news on his Twitter page on Friday, January 20, along with photos of himself, director Ramkumar and producer Thyagarajan. Vishnu Vishal tweeted, "Mundasupatti Ratsasan and now - #VV21 Semma excited for this one.. With the vision of  @dir_ramkumar  and backed by such a prestigious production house  @SathyaJyothi ..  This will be an unexplored viewing experience from us to you 💯".

Vishnu Vishal and Ramkumar's combo has been a highly successful one after they hit the bullseye with the 2014 period comedy film, Mundasupatti, which went on to become a sleeper hit, while the duo's second outing together, the slasher psychological thriller, Ratsasan, released in 2018, turned out to be a box office money-spinner. It is to be noted that the success of Ratsasan spawned two different remakes - Rakshasudu (2019) starring Bellamkonda Sreenivas in Telugu and Cuttputlli (2022) with Akshay Kumar in Hindi. For a while now, there have been speculations that Vishnu Vishal and Ramkumar would be coming back together for another film and this latest announcement will no doubt come as a big delight for Tamil cinema fans.

2022 was a good year for Vishnu Vishal after his performances in FIR and Gatta Kusthi garnered him appreciation, while the films also turned out to be big hits at the box office. The actor-producer has several projects in various stages of development among which include Mohandas, Aaryan, Lal Salaam, including FIR 2, which he had announced a few days back. Whether Vishnu Vishal-Ramkumar's new film is going to be Ratsasan 2, remains to be seen and only time will tell how the project shapes up. 

Tamil actor-producer Vishnu Vishal's Gatta Kusthi also starring Aishwarya Lekshmi was released in theatres last week and has been receiving a good response from audiences and critics alike. The sports drama film, which was also released in Telugu under the title Matti Kusthi, has been directed by Chella Ayyavu, and has been produced under the Vishnu Vishal Studioz banner in association with leading Telugu hero Ravi Teja's RT Team Works, with Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies acquiring the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights. With Gatta Kusthi declared to be yet another hit in Vishnu Vishal's career, a special success meet for the film was held on Thursday, December 8, in the presence of media persons. 

During his interaction with the press at the Gatta Kusthi success meet, Vishnu Vishal thanked audiences and the media for constantly supporting him right from the beginning of his career, which he revealed was the encouragement he needed to also become a film producer. He recalled his words and said, "My father taught me in the beginning how important the press is for an actor because he was a police officer. He used to tell me that the press would acknowledge him when he was serving the police department. The problems of the police would not reach or be conveyed to everyone easily. So, he would talk and explain to them their issues and they would understand. They would then present the right facts and this is what he taught me growing up."

Vishnu Vishal continued, "When I first started in cinema, always maintain a good relationship with the press because they will all the good and bad things happening to you. If you take that feedback positively, you will able to grow and develop yourself more. This is why I have a special place for my friends in the media and this is what made me decide to become a producer. I was acting in good films, but production is no child's play. It's a big risk decision. I realized that my films are being well-received, getting good reviews, and people were enjoying them. I started my own production house after looking at those developments. In the beginning, I did jolly good commercial films and later observed that cinema had begun to change to content-driven subjects. Content-oriented films were becoming big hits and that's when I decided to do FIR. Gatta Kusthi now is a commercial film intermixed with content, while FIR is an amalgamation of content and commercial aspects. I understood that I shouldn't let go of the word 'content' and began producing films with a lot of clarity. This is not the second innings of my production house, but also my life and me as an actor. All of this has been possible because of the press and it has been proven once again with this film as well. The first collections have been surpassed by the second day, and it has gotten double and triple. I extend my gratitude to all of you for making this happen."

Tamil actor-producer Vishnu Vishal's next big film, Gatta Kusthi, is gearing up for a big opening when it arrives in cinemas on December 2. Directed by Chella Ayyavu, the upcoming bilingual sports drama film is also coming out in Telugu under the title Matti Kusthi and has been produced under the Vishnu Vishal Studioz banner in association with leading Telugu hero Ravi Teja's RT Team Works and is being released by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies across Tamil Nadu. Gatta Kusthi is the second time Vishnu Vishal and director Chella Ayyavu have come together after their Silukkuvarpatti Singam in 2018 and the duo will be looking to hit the bullseye with their latest effort. Aishwarya Lekshmi, who has become a heart-throb among Tamil audiences after her portrayal of the Poonguzhali character in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: 1, has landed yet another strong role and she will be looking to land positive reviews for her performance once again. There is quite a lot of positive buzz surrounding Gatta Kusthi, especially after Udhayanidhi Stalin came on board, considering he has tasted huge success this year after distributing films like Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan, 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Beast, Sivakarthikeyan's Don, Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam, Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, Karthi's Sardar, and Love Today to name a notable few. Gatta Kusthi also has plenty of talented names in the technical department with music director Justin Prabhakaran, cinematographer Richard M Nathan, and editor Prasanna GK leading on the front.

Vishnu Vishal's next release in Tamil cinema will be FIR which is currently in the final stages of post-production. FIR is directed by debutant Manu Anand, a former associate of director Gautham Vasudev Menon. Produced by Vishnu Vishal Studioz, this action thriller has three female leads - Reba Monica John, Manjima Mohan, and Raiza Wilson. Director Gautham Vasudev Menon will be seen playing a pivotal character in this film that also has Gaurav Narayanan and popular YouTube reviewer Prashanth Rangaswamy in supporting roles. The film has cinematography by Arul Vincent and editing by Prasanna GK, while the art direction is handled by Indulal Kaveed.

The stunts will play a crucial part in FIR and it has been taken care of by Stunt Silva. Divyanka Anand Shankar is the additional screenwriter of the film. Ashwath has composed music. Meanwhile, for the last few days, rumours have been surfacing on social media stating that FIR will opt for a direct OTT release and this news created confusion among the fans as there were no official clarifications about it.

Having said that, Vishnu Vishal has now denied the rumour about FIR's direct OTT release plans and requested everyone to wait for an official announcement. Vishnu added that he will try to the best of his ability to release FIR in theatres as the film was made for a theatrical experience. Vishnus clarification statement read, "#FIR on direct OTT is wrong news at d moment.... Please wait for the official announcement.. Like i have always said ,as a producer and an actor i wil try to the best of my ability and capacity to release #FIR in theatres.. we made it for a great theatrical experience..".

Following the release of FIR, Vishnu Vishal will next be seen in Mohandas, which is directed by Murali Karthick of Kalavu fame. Actor Vishnu Vishal has officially announced his wedding with Indian Badminton player, Jwala Gutta and the wedding will take place on April 22, 2021 (Thursday). It means that we are just 10 days away from witnessing Vishnu Vishal's wedding. The young and talented actor got mutually divorced from his first wife, Rajini in 2018. Vishnu Vishal took to his official Twitter page to share the digital invite of the wedding and the news has grabbed the attention of the fans. Wishes have been pouring in for Vishnu Vishal and Jwala Gutta from all quarters and we at Galatta Media send our heartfelt wishes to the couple. It has been mentioned in the invite that the wedding will be a private affair that will happen in the presence of family members and close friends.

Talking about Jwala Gutta in one of his earlier interactions with the press and media, Vishnu Vishal said, "It is actually the mutual respect for each other, more than the love. We understand each other very well and have mutual respect. I lost my hope and faith in love. Having spent 4 years of love life and 7 years of marriage life, I don't believe it anymore. The relationship with Jwala happened because of the respect and admiration we have for each other. In any given relationship, respect is very important and she gave that to me. When I was going through a low phase, she stood by me and encouraged me. She was always positive and supportive of me. She is a sports player and I am also from a sports background. Things are going well now.".

Vishnu Vishal, on the acting front, will next be seen in FIR, which is an action thriller, directed by Manu Anand, a former associate of Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film's shooting has been wrapped up and it is currently in the post production stages. Vishnu Vishal is also acting in a Tamil film titled Mohandas, which is touted to be a psycho thriller.
