It's the talk of the town as Lyca Productions announced on Monday, August 28, that 'Thalapathy' Vijay's son Jason Sanjay's directorial debut will be under their prestigious production-distribution banner. In an official press note shared by PRO Suresh Chandra, Jason, who pursued a Film Production Diploma at the Toronto Film School (2018-2020) and followed it with a BA (Hons) in Screenwriting in London (2 Years Fast Track Course) from 2020-2022, has expressed his excitement about his filmmaking debut under the blockbuster banner, which incidentally had bankrolled his father Vijay's Kaththi (2014). 

Sharing his joy over the announcement of his directorial debut, Jason Sanjay Vijay says, "It's an honor to get the opportunity to direct my first film for a prestigious production house like Lyca Productions. It has been a hub of encouraging talents and has created a stream of new filmmakers. I am glad that they liked my script, and have given me complete creative freedom to materialize it." He continued, "We are now in talks with the emerging stars of the industry and some happening technicians. I thank Subaskaran sir for this opportunity, which gives me immense excitement and huge responsibility coalescing together. Lyca Productions, which has lined up an incredible league of projects with big names and young talents, scheduled at different stages of production, has assured non-stop entertainment to the audiences for the forthcoming years. Producer A. Subaskaran shared his enthusiasm for Jason Sanjay Vijay's directorial revealing that his script narration impressed the production banner adding that the story he has written has a unique premise. We are happy to announce that Mr. Jason Sanjay Vijay will direct our next project, which has a unique story premise and an engrossing experience. Subaskaran added, "When he narrated the script, we were totally satisfied as it gave us a cinematic feel. In what can termed as a completely surprising announcement, Lyca Productions shared the news of 'Thalapathy' Vijay's son Jason Sanjay making his directorial debut under their banner on Monday, August 28. The big news was revealed along with photos of Jason signing on to the project in the presence of producer Subaskaran Allirajah, the head of the blockbuster production-distribution banner GKM Tamil Kumaran among others. The project tentatively titled Jason Sanjay's Directorial Debut is officially a go now , with Lyca Productions expressing their joy at collaborating with Tamil superstar Vijay's son on their social media pages writing, "We are beyond excited 🤩 & proud 😌 to introduce #JasonSanjay in his Directorial Debut 🎬 We wish him a career filled with success & contentment 🤗 carrying forward the legacy! 🌟" (sic)

The announcement of Jason Sanjay's directorial debut has no doubt come as a massive surprise and wishes are already pouring in for the budding filmmaker, who has made a few short films during the course of his education abroad. It is to be noted that he directed a short titled Pull The Trigger earlier this year, which received quite a lot of buzz on social media. With Jason Sanjay's directorial debut now announced and Lyca Productions doing the honors for his grand start in Tamil cinema, there will be a lot of expectations surrounding the project and we can expect Vijay's fans to show him support in his new journey as a filmmaker on the global stage. 

Fans will know that Lyca Productions made a stellar debut in Tamil cinema by bankrolling 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Kaththi (2014) directed by AR Murugadoss, which went on to become one of the biggest box office blockbusters and put the hit production banner on the map. Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi will roll into production soon, Lyca Productions' Subaskaran announced at the Chandramukhi 2 audio launch on Friday, August 25. The blockbuster producer during his speech at the upcoming Tamil film's audio release event in Chennai informed fans that the Ajith-starrer to be directed by Magizh Thirumeni featuring music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander is a prestigious project and will be a treat for audiences everywhere. Sharing that Lyca Productions is happy to collaborate with Ajith, Subaskaran further added that more VidaaMuyarchi updates will be out soon, leaving fans of the leading Tamil actor mighty happy. 

Lyca Productions' Subaskaran's latest statement has quelled reports stating that the prestigious production-distribution banner had ended ties with Ajith and opted out of VidaaMuyarchi, with the latest update once again confirming that the project is indeed on track and will begin filming soon. The buzz surrounding the film has been massive ever since it was announced and the excitement shot up sky-high after the title was revealed on the occasion of Ajith's birthday on May 1. VidaaMuyarchi marks the first time Ajith will be collaborating with filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni, who is known best for Thadaiyara Thaakka (2012) and Thadam (2019), and is expected to deliver yet another intense and entertaining thriller. 

With Lyca Productions' Subaskaran putting the false rumors surrounding VidaaMuyarchi to rest, the wait is now on for when the film will begin shooting and an official announcement is expected to be made soon. Ajith too has returned to Chennai after completing his recent trip across Europe and was seen being mobbed by his ardent fans upon his arrival in the city earlier this week. VidaaMuyarchi also has tremendous enthusiasm among fans as it will see Anirudh composing the music for an Ajith-starrer once again after six years when he churned out chart-topping hits in Vivegam (2017). 

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's next big directorial Lal Salaam has wrapped up filming, blockbuster production banner Lyca Productions made the announcement on Wednesday, August 9. Sharing photos of the wrap party, which saw the film's lead stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, and the crew being joined by none other than 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, the prestigious production house also informed in their latest update that the post-production works are set to begin next. In the pictures shared by Lyca Productions, we see one of a cake that has the text of the Lal Salaam shooting being completed, while also extending a thank you to Rajinikanth for being a part of the film.

Lal Salaam is Aishwarya Rajinikanth's fourth directorial and sees her return to filmmaking after 3 (2012), Vai Raja Vai (2015), and the documentary Cinema Veeran (2017). The buzz for the film shot up tenfold after it was announced that Rajinikanth would be playing a cameo as a character named Moideen bhai, with his look in the shooting spot stills unveiled so far taking social media by storm. Billed to be a sports drama, Lal Salaam has Rajinikanth appearing in crucial scenes alongside the film's lead stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, who will be seen playing the role of aspiring cricketers. It is to be noted that India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain and legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev too will be seen making an appearance in the film in scenes with Rajinikanth. 

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam will subsequently include songs and a background score composed by Academy Award-winning music director A. R. Rahman, and there is considerable excitement as to what big treats he's going to deliver next. The film also marks the third time 'Superstar' Rajinikanth is appearing in a Lyca Productions venture after 2.0 (2018) and Darbar (2020). It is to be noted that the iconic actor and the hit production house will once again be collaborating on the upcoming Thalaivar 170 to be directed by T. J. Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame.

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is coming out in grand style and the anticipation for the epic historical action adventure film has been huge in recent times. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film is the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, which went on to collect over 500 crores at the worldwide box office. With PS: 2 set for a massive opening across the globe, the film's USA premiere has crossed the $500,000 mark and is counting, Lyca Productions announced late Thursday evening (IST). 

Sharing a poster of Ponniyin Selvan: 2 featuring the lead stars 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha, Lyca Productions has revealed the USA premiere gross report signaling off the start of the celebrations. Fans, who have watched Mani Ratnam's latest magnum opus in the US, have been sharing and expressing their views and opinions about the film, with a majority of the feedback being strongly positive. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies will be looking to go past the numbers recorded by PS: 1 with the sequel, which is picking up right after the events in the first installment that ended on a massive cliffhanger note. Featuring songs and a background score composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, Ponniyin Selvan: 2 sees the lead stars reprising their roles starting with 'Chiyaan' Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan, Trisha as Kundavai, Aishwarya Lekshmi as Poonguzhali, Sobhita Dhulipala as Vaanathi and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in dual roles as Nandini and Mandakini. The sequel also includes an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Prabhu, R. Sarath Kumar,  Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Kishore and Radhakrishnan Parthiban.

Ajith Kumar is one of the leading actors in the Tamil film industry with a massive and loyal fan base. The actor has starred in over 60 films and his latest was the blockbuster hit Thunivu, was produced by Boney Kapoor and directed by H. Vinoth. The heist thriller film also has Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, John Kokken, Mahanadhi Shankar, Prem Kumar,  Bagavathi Perumal, Pavani Reddy, Cibi, and Dharshan in important roles. It was released in January and saw a good run in theatres. Ajith Kumar lost his father recently on 24th March and celebrities, politicians and fans sent their condolence on the tragic loss. As the next project of the actor is yet to be announced, there were many speculation around the project.

The next project of Ajith Kumar is tentatively titled AK62. Lyca productions, a leading production house, released a statement that it will be directed by Vignesh Shivan, last year. The post created a huge anticipation. Later, there were speculations that Vignesh Shivan will no longer be a part of the project. Reports then stated that talented filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni will helm the next project of Ajith Kumar. Now the makers have announced that an official update about AK62 will be released soon. 

G.K.M. Tamil Kumaran is the CEO of Lyca Productions, which is headed by A. Subaskaran. As the CEO of Lyca and Magizh Thirumeni visites Ajith Kumar's father to express condolences as his father passed away recently, the reporters asked if they can confirm that Magizh Thirumeni will direct AK62. The producer said “let's talk about this afterwards." As the reporters asked if we can expect an update. He replied ”sure there will be good news, that will come next month". The video implied that fans can expect an official update about AK62 in April.

Lyca Productions has grown to be a leading production house in the Tamil film industry. From their first project Kathi with 'Thalapathy' Vijay in the lead role the production house had grown and produced multiple projects including Yaman, Kolamavu Kokila, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Vada Chennai, 2.0, Kaappaan, Darbar, Mafia: Chapter 1, Don, Ponniyin Selvan: I. The production house also has many upcoming projects including Lal Salaam, Ponniyin Selvan: II set to be released in theatres next month. The film has created massive anticipation as the first part was a blockbuster hit that drove people to cinema halls. The highly anticipated Kannada language Pan-Indian film Kabzaa is directed by R Chandru. The film has ‘Indian Real Star’ Upendra, ‘Baadshah’ Kichcha Sudeep, known for playing the antagonist role in Naan Ee, and 'Karunada Chakravarthy' Dr, Shivrajkumar in lead roles. The anticipated film is mounted on a massive budget and is set to be an action flick that happens during Indian independence and right after independence. The film also features Shriya Saran as the female lead, with Murali Sharma, Posani Krishna Murali, Sudha, Anoop Ravanna, and John Kokken in supporting roles. It has music composed by KGF fame Ravi Basrur and it's the next big thing from the Kannada film industry after KGF and Kantara.

Lyca Productions has announced that the Ajith Kumar-starrer Thunivu directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner in association with Zee Studios will be releasing in the USA and UK on January 11, 2023, ahead of the Pongal festivities. On Wednesday, December 14, the blockbuster production-distribution banner made the big release date announcement that the film will have early premieres on January 11th (1 a.m. IST January 12), while also sharing a poster featuring Ajith. Despite word being awaited for the release date of Thunivu in India, this latest announcement from Lyca Productions indirectly confirms that the upcoming mass action thriller film will be coming out in cinemas on January 12 across the country. 

Thunivu's overseas distributors - Sarigama Cinemas (US) and Boleyn Cinema (UK) - had earlier announced the January 11 release plans and this latest update from Lyca Productions is a big confirmation that the film will indeed be coming out across India on January 12. Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies is releasing the Ajith-starrer in Tamil Nadu and the film is expected to lock in a massive screen count in the state. Expectations are huge among fans and in the trade for Thunivu to take a big opening and we can bank on Udhayanidhi Stalin to secure a good number of big screens in TN. Ajith will be looking to hit it out of the park with Thunivu, which is his third outing with H. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor after the trio previously tasted stunning success with their Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai. There is a tremendous buzz for the film and the response to the 'Chilla Chilla' song is testimony enough, with the wait now on for the second single 'Kaaseydhaan Kadavuladaa'. Featuring music by Ghibran, Thunivu will see Ajith sharing screen space with Malayalam actress Manju Warrier of Asuran fame, while Samuthirakani is playing the role of a cop, with Bigg Boss Tamil stars Amir, Pavni Reddy, and Ciby Bhuvana Chandran among others set to appear in pivotal roles. 

Blockbuster production-distribution banner Lyca Productions has announced its next big venture titled Pattathu Arasan on Thursday, November 10. Directed by Sarkunam, the upcoming film stars Atharvaa Murali and popular Kannada heroine Ashika Ranganath as the lead pair, while acclaimed veteran actors Rajkiran and Radikaa Sarathkumar will be seen in pivotal roles. The first look for Pattathu Arasan has been released by Lyca Productions and shows Atharvaa and Rajkiran with their heads held high on what appears to be a playground, with the film speculated to be revolving around the sport of Kabbadi. 

Lyca Productions have had a mighty successful 2022 after tasting massive box office successes in the form of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: I and Sivakarthikeyan's Don, while also distributing films like S. S. Rajamouli's RRR and Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Sita Ramam. Pattathu Arasan began filming last year and photos from the shooting spot showed Atharvaa, Ashika Ranganath, and Radikaa Sarathkumar, with the film also featuring a talented technical team among whom are music director Ghibran, cinematographer Loganathan, and editor Raja Mohammed. Pattathu Arasan is also Lyca Productions' next big film in their upcoming lineup that include ventures like Ponniyin Selvan: 2 slated to hit screens next summer, followed by Kamal Haasan's magnum opus Indian 2 being directed by Shankar, Chandramukhi 2 with Raghava Lawrence under P. Vasu's direction, 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu's big comeback project Naai Sekar Returns, including the recently-announced Lal Salaam starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth set to make a special appearance under Aishwarya Rajinikanth's direction. Sarkunam too is returning with Pattathu Arasan after his Kalavani 2 in 2019 and the filmmaker will be looking to come out all guns blazing. Atharvaa is taking the rural route with Pattathu Arasan after he had two releases this year that included Kuruthi Aattam and Trigger.

Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's acclaimed novel Ponniyin Selvan, the upcoming adaptation is coming out as a pan-Indian release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages and will feature music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies banners, a special glimpse from Ponniyin Selvan has now been released along with an exciting announcement. 

Madras Talkies has released a short clip from Ponniyin Selvan: 1, the first of the two installments, which gives us a glimpse of 'Chiyaan' Vikram alongside several others as warriors hoisting the flag of the Cholas. The video also carries the text, 'The Cholas are coming' as the blockbuster production house has also revealed that the week ahead will be an "adventure-filled" one for fans to look forward to. There have been wide speculations that the much-awaited Ponniyin Selvan teaser will be releasing next week and Lyca Productions' latest announcement no doubt indicates that promotions are about to kick in big time.
