The trailer of the new web series Mathagam starring Atharvaa and Manikandan in the lead roles is out and is streaming giant Disney+ Hotstar's next big special. Announced to premiere on August 18, an intense trailer for the upcoming series has now been released and gives audiences a glimpse into the massive action that awaits them in the days ahead. Directed by Prasath Murugesan of Kidaari fame, Mathagam will see Atharvaa playing the role of a police officer and locking horns with Manikandan, who just tasted huge success in Good Night released earlier this year. 

The high-adrenaline Mathagam trailer offers audiences a sneak peek into the face-off between Manikandan, who is in possession of a licensed pistol, and Atharvaa withholding from firing his gun owing to his responsibility to the law. The series also stars Nikhila Vimal, DD (Dhivyadarshini), Gautham Menon, Dilnaz Irani, Ilavarasu, Vadivukarasi, Aruvi Thirunavukkarasu, Munnar Ramesh, Sarath Ravi, Rishikanth and Murali Abbas among others in key roles, and will be streaming in seven languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali. While Atharvaa is donning the khakhi once again after his role in 100 (2018), Mathagam marks the first time Manikandan is playing an antagonist in his career. 

Apart from the talented star cast, Mathagam with music composed by Darbuka Siva includes an impressive technical team onboard featuring the likes of cinematography by Edwin Sakay and editing by Praveen Antony, while popular stunt master Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed the explosive action sequences in the series, which has art direction by Suresh Kallery. Production for the Mathagam web series, a Hotstar Specials, is handled by Screen Scene Media Entertainment.

Atharvaa Murali is a well-known actor who was last seen on screen in the film Pattathu Arasan which was released last year. Manikandan is a talented actor and writer who has been a part of many films, including Vikram Vedha, Jai Bhim. His most-recent release was Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal. The two actors are set to join onscreen for the first time for a web series titled Mathagam.

Mathagam is set to feature Atharvaa Murali, Manikandan and others in prominent roles and the project was recently announced by Disney+ Hotstar. They have released the first look poster of the series. It shows the half faces of both the actor and the series is set to be released in multiple Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi. It is set to be directed by Prasath Murugesan, who helmed the film Kidaari and co-directed the web series Queen. It is to be produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment. The makers have revealed that the series will focus on the battle between good and evil with a special tag: The Night is Long.

Mathagam, translates to the forehead of an elephant, also has the well-known Malayalam actress Nikhila Vimal playing the female lead. The film also has director Gautham Vasudev Menon, Dilnaz Irani, Ilavarasu, Dhivyadarshini, Vadivukarasi, Thirunavukkarasu, Munnar Ramesh, Sarath Ravi, Rishikanth and Murali Abbas in important roles. The film will have music by Darbuka Shiva of Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee fame, Cinematography by Edwin Sakay and editing by Praveen Antony. Speaking about the series, the director said "Mathagam showcases a gripping sequence of thrilling developments that take place over a period of 30 hours." A one-minute video teaser of the web series has also been released, l has a narration by veteran actress Radhikaa Sarathkumar. The teaser shows the series will focus on events that happen in a night but the makers yet to announce a release date.

The shooting of Atharvaa's new film with director Sarkunam began today (August 4) in Thanjavur with the main cast. Director Sarkunam, who is known for making quality films like Kalavani, and Vaagai Sooda Vaa, is reuniting with Atharvaa in this new project, after their first outing, Chandi Veeran. This film will be bankrolled by A Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions and the film has been planned to be shot on a grand scale. The film features veteran actor Rajkiran in a very important role, while Radikaa Sarathkumar, Jaypee, RK Suresh, Singam Puli, Ravi Khale, Bala Saravanan, Raj Ayyappa, GM Kumar, and others play supporting characters.

This film is tentatively called Production No 22, marking Lyca's 22nd production venture. Popular Kannada actress Ashika Ranganath has been roped in to play the female lead in this film and this will mark her debut in Tamil cinema. The official announcement regarding the female lead was made this morning, along with the commencement of the shoot. The makers have confirmed in an official statement that the shoot will take place as per the Covid 19 protocols.

The film will also be completed in a single schedule from start to finish without any break. Starting from today, the shoot will happen for the next 50 days. We can expect the film to be wrapped up by mid-September. This untitled film will be an entertaining family drama that will have a mix of all emotions. Ghibran will be composing music for this film, while Loganathan will be handling the cinematography. Raja Mohammed takes care of the editing. GKM Tamil Kumaran will be heading the production of this film for Lyca Productions.

Atharvaa has two films ready for release - Kuruthi Aattam and Thalli Pogathey. Kuruthi Aattam is an action drama, directed by Sri Ganesh of 8 Thottakkal fame and has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Thalli Pogathey is a romantic film directed by R Kannan. Thalli Pogathey is the official Tamil remake of the Telugu film, Ninnu Kori.

The first single from the Netflix anthology, Navarasa, was released yesterday (July 12). The song was called 'Thooriga' and it was a peppy romantic number, composed by Karthik. The song opened to a highly positive response from the fans. 'Thooriga' belongs to the Gautham Vasudev Menon's directorial segment in Navarasa, featuring Suriya and Prayaga Martin in the lead roles. The makers have now released the next single song from Navarasa and this new song is called 'The Bleeding Heart (Osara Parandhu Vaa). This song is featured in Sarjun KM's directorial segment of Navarasa and it features Atharvaa, Anjali and Aadukalam Kishore in the lead roles.

This Sarjun directorial is titled Thunintha Pin and it promises to be an interesting watch. The new single, 'Osara Parandhu Vaa' is composed by Sundaramurthy KS and sung by Vrusha Balu, while the lyrics is penned by Soundar Rajan. Vrusha Balu's soulful rendition is the biggest highlight of this song and the number is sure to leave a bigger impact along with the visuals. The song has been released on the official YouTube channel of Think Music who owns the film's audio rights. Navarasa is an anthology that comprises of 9 short films. Each short film will be a depiction of each rasa and it brings together several top technicians and actors together for the very first time.

The nine segments of Navarasa are directed by Priyadarshan, Vasanth Sai, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arvind Swami (directorial debut), Bejoy Nambiar, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, Sarjun KM, and Rathindran R Prasad. Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Revathi, Rohini, Siddharth, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Delhi Ganesh, Aditi Balan, Bobby Simha are some of the prominent actors who are a part of Navarasa. Produced by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra, Navarasa is all set to release on Netflix on August 6. Actor Atharvaa was last seen in Gaddalakonda Ganesh, which incidentally marked his acting debut in Telugu, and was then announced to be working in reputed Tamil film producer S. Michael Rayappan's upcoming venture. To be directed by debutant Ravindra Madhava, the forthcoming project will mark the second occasion Atharvaa is teaming up with Michael Rayappan's Global Infotainment banner after their 2015 film, Eeti, which turned out to be a surprise box office despite the floods that had wreaked havoc across South India. 

Producer Michael Rayappan known for his films such as Nadodigal, Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, Eetti, Miruthan to name a few will be looking to hit the bullseye once after his previous ventures, Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan starring STR and Kee with Jiiva, didn't fare well in terms of the results at the box office. 

Now, a major development has taken place in this yet-to-be-titled Atharvaa film as the makers have officially announced the female lead role will be portrayed by actress Lavanya Tripathi. A highly popular name in Telugu cinema, this will be the third Tamil film for Lavanya Tripathi after the 2014 Sasikumar starrer, Bramman, and Maayavan in 2017 opposite Sundeep Kishan under C. V. Kumar's direction.

Speaking about Lavanya Tripathi being roped to play the heroine opposite Atharvaa, director Ravindra Madhava says, "The pursuit of heroine for our film has been quite a long-phased one. Soon after giving a complete sketch to the female lead character, we felt someone with a charismatic, graceful look and at the same time, a prowess performer can add more value to it. She isn’t someone, who appears in a blink and miss role, but will travel throughout the film. She is matured, bold, wise and doesn’t think twice to make a decision. She is the one who questions the antagonist’s intention of injecting pain in others,".

Raveendra Madhav further added saying, "With so many traits involved, we approached many talented actresses here, who loved the script and character, but couldn’t take up due to their prior commitments. Finally, we are happy to have Lavanya Tripathi onboard for this role and I’m sure her presence is going to add more value to this role,".

One among the many Tamil blockbusters that were announced for a remake was the 2014 smash hit, Jigarthanda, which has been titled Valmiki in Telugu and is gearing up for a worldwide release on September 20. Director Harish Shankar helmed Valmiki with Varun Tej reprising Bobby Simha’s role while Tamil actor Atharvaa is all set for his acting debut in Telugu and will be seen portraying Siddharth’s character in Jigarthanda. The film also includes Super Deluxe fame Mirnalini Ravi as the female lead in Lakshmi Menon’s role while actress Pooja Hegde is making a guest appearance with music being scored by Devi Sri Prasad followed by Ayananka Bose handling the cinematography and Ram and Gopi Achanta producing it under their banner 14 Reels Entertainment banner. With only a few days more left for its theatrical release, the Valmiki trailer has now been released.

Jigarthanda went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in 2014 with director Karthik Subbaraj tasting major box office success with Bobby Simha securing the Best Supporting Actor National Award and Vivek Harshan winning the Best Editing National Award. Many expect Valmiki too to succeed as the Tamil original with Varun Tej’s role said to be the major highlight in the film.

The Telugu remake of critically acclaimed Tamil film Jigarthanda has been titled Valmika which is directed by Harish Shankar. The film stars Varun Tej and Atharvaa in the lead roles. Varun Tej would be playing the role of a gangster in it. It will be bankrolled by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under their banner. Harish Shankar is not planning it as an exact remake but will be making some changes to the script to suit the Telugu audiences. Mickey J Meyer has been roped in to compose the tunes for this flick. The original version in Tamil was written and directed by Karthik Subburaj and had Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles. Now check out the video promo of 1st song from Valmiki:

Actor Atharvaa is having steady run in Kollywood after the success of Imaikkaa Nodigal, Boomerang, 100 and the star is also awaiting the release of his Telugu debut film titled Valmiki which is the official remake of the Tamil hit film Jigarthanda. Atharva has some interesting projects in hand one of the exciting films is the untitled romantic comedy venture directed by Kannan. Notably, this film is the second consecutive one for Kannan with Atharvaa as they earlier worked for Boomerang. The film has the elegantly beauteous Anupama Parameswaran sharing the screen space with Atharvaa for the first time. The latest big news about the film is that the team has completed the first schedule of shooting in a short span of time and 50% of the film’s major portions have been wrapped up in this leg of shooting.

Director Kannan says,

“We are happy to announce that 50% of the shoot is already over in this 20-day schedule, which completely happened in Chennai. We erected a set work of house in Neelankarai, which will be one of the major backdrops in the film. We also canned an action sequence choreographed by Stunt Silva sir across the crowded lanes of Pudhupettai for 4 days, which has come out really well.”

About the cast of the film, director Kannan adds,

“Atharvaa is known as director’s actor, but what I saw in him during this shoot was his upgraded version. This film completely differs in genre and treatment from his previous movies and so happens to be his role. After watching the rushes, I felt the fulfilment of the character he plays and that’s because of his outstanding performance. Anupama Parameswaran will be spotted in a never-seen-before avatar, which will be close alike Trisha in 96. Aadukalam Naren sir plays the role of Anupama’s father and his acting is so natural. In fact, his role has lots to add on the humorous and emotional quotients in the film and he has been doing complete justice to it. It’s same with Kaali Venkat, Jagan, and Vidyullekha Raman, who are essaying important roles.”

Shanmugha Sundaram, whose magical visuals in ‘96’ were highly acclaimed, is handling cinematography for this film with Kabilan Vairamuthu penning the dialogues. RK Selva (Editor), Rajkumar (Art), Satish (Choreographer), Kavitha J (Costume Designer), Raja Sridhar (Production Executive) are the others in the technical crew. The second leg of the shoot, which will be a 20-day schedule will commence in Russia from the first week of September.

Valmiki is easily one of the highly anticipated movies for the Telugu cinema audience, as it is the remake of the 2014 blockbuster gangster drama movie, Jigarthanda, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. With Harish Shankar helming Valmiki, it has Varun Tej reprising Bobby Simha’s role and Atharvaa Murali reprising Siddharth’s role. Mirnalini Ravi, who made her Kolywood debut with Super Deluxe this year, will be making her Tollywood debut as well with Valmiki. She along with Pooja Hegde will be seen in pivotal roles. Interestingly, Valmiki marks Atharvaa Murali's Tollywood debut and is his third release this year, followed by Boomerang and 100. As for Varun Tej, Valmiki is his 2nd release this year after F2- Fun and Frustration.

Aatharvaa's much anticipated cop thriller written and directed by Sam Anton in his third directorial venture hit the screens last week (May 9th). The movie opened to some decent reviews from both the fans and the critics as well providing a good start to the movie. Even with some good competition the movie has managed to hold its screens at the theaters and is expected to do well in the coming days as well.

Apart from Atharvaa, 100 has the ever gorgeous Hansika Motwani as the lady lead while Yogi Babu portrays a supporting role. The music was composed by Sam CS. Witht the movie running successfully at the theaters, the makers have released the video of the song titled Ye Di Raasathi. The track is composed and sung by Sam. CS with the rap portions written & performed by Kavita Thomas.
