Lavanya Tripathi joins Atharvaa in producer Michael Rayappan's next!
Actor Atharvaa was last seen in Gaddalakonda Ganesh, which incidentally marked his acting debut in Telugu, and was then announced to be working in reputed Tamil film producer S. Michael Rayappan's upcoming venture. To be directed by debutant Ravindra Madhava, the forthcoming project will mark the second occasion Atharvaa is teaming up with Michael Rayappan's Global Infotainment banner after their 2015 film, Eeti, which turned out to be a surprise box office despite the floods that had wreaked havoc across South India.
Producer Michael Rayappan known for his films such as Nadodigal, Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, Eetti, Miruthan to name a few will be looking to hit the bullseye once after his previous ventures, Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan starring STR and Kee with Jiiva, didn't fare well in terms of the results at the box office.
Now, a major development has taken place in this yet-to-be-titled Atharvaa film as the makers have officially announced the female lead role will be portrayed by actress Lavanya Tripathi. A highly popular name in Telugu cinema, this will be the third Tamil film for Lavanya Tripathi after the 2014 Sasikumar starrer, Bramman, and Maayavan in 2017 opposite Sundeep Kishan under C. V. Kumar's direction.
Speaking about Lavanya Tripathi being roped to play the heroine opposite Atharvaa, director Ravindra Madhava says, "The pursuit of heroine for our film has been quite a long-phased one. Soon after giving a complete sketch to the female lead character, we felt someone with a charismatic, graceful look and at the same time, a prowess performer can add more value to it. She isn’t someone, who appears in a blink and miss role, but will travel throughout the film. She is matured, bold, wise and doesn’t think twice to make a decision. She is the one who questions the antagonist’s intention of injecting pain in others,".
Raveendra Madhav further added saying, "With so many traits involved, we approached many talented actresses here, who loved the script and character, but couldn’t take up due to their prior commitments. Finally, we are happy to have Lavanya Tripathi onboard for this role and I’m sure her presence is going to add more value to this role,".

A Quick Wrap For Atharvaa And Anupama!
Actor Atharvaa is having steady run in Kollywood after the success of Imaikkaa Nodigal, Boomerang, 100 and the star is also awaiting the release of his Telugu debut film titled Valmiki which is the official remake of the Tamil hit film Jigarthanda. Atharva has some interesting projects in hand one of the exciting films is the untitled romantic comedy venture directed by Kannan. Notably, this film is the second consecutive one for Kannan with Atharvaa as they earlier worked for Boomerang. The film has the elegantly beauteous Anupama Parameswaran sharing the screen space with Atharvaa for the first time. The latest big news about the film is that the team has completed the first schedule of shooting in a short span of time and 50% of the film’s major portions have been wrapped up in this leg of shooting.
Director Kannan says,
“We are happy to announce that 50% of the shoot is already over in this 20-day schedule, which completely happened in Chennai. We erected a set work of house in Neelankarai, which will be one of the major backdrops in the film. We also canned an action sequence choreographed by Stunt Silva sir across the crowded lanes of Pudhupettai for 4 days, which has come out really well.”
About the cast of the film, director Kannan adds,
“Atharvaa is known as director’s actor, but what I saw in him during this shoot was his upgraded version. This film completely differs in genre and treatment from his previous movies and so happens to be his role. After watching the rushes, I felt the fulfilment of the character he plays and that’s because of his outstanding performance. Anupama Parameswaran will be spotted in a never-seen-before avatar, which will be close alike Trisha in 96. Aadukalam Naren sir plays the role of Anupama’s father and his acting is so natural. In fact, his role has lots to add on the humorous and emotional quotients in the film and he has been doing complete justice to it. It’s same with Kaali Venkat, Jagan, and Vidyullekha Raman, who are essaying important roles.”
Shanmugha Sundaram, whose magical visuals in ‘96’ were highly acclaimed, is handling cinematography for this film with Kabilan Vairamuthu penning the dialogues. RK Selva (Editor), Rajkumar (Art), Satish (Choreographer), Kavitha J (Costume Designer), Raja Sridhar (Production Executive) are the others in the technical crew. The second leg of the shoot, which will be a 20-day schedule will commence in Russia from the first week of September.

100 Tamil Movie Review | Atharvaa | Hansika | Yogi Babu | Sam Anton
By Avinash Pandian | Galatta | 10:00 PM
What happens when you dial 100? Many of us would have heard lectures to use the emergency helpline number 100 during times of distress. Calls made to 100 would be received by a police officer from the control room. Atharvaa in this film plays the role of a Sub-Inspector who attends calls made to the 100 helpline. It is something similar to what Mahesh Babu does in Spyder.
Atharvaa is a newly appointed SI who wishes to be the heroic type cop but unfortunately, he ends up doing a desk job in the Police Department. How his 100th call makes a huge difference to his career? How one case changes him from a young boy to a strong man? 100 talks about that episode of a newly appointed cop’s life. Just like most recent police stories, this too talks about drug and human trafficking. The core concept is filled with a lot of logical loopholes and dramatization but 100 definitely has a few highpoints to look out for.
Talking about our hero Atharvaa, his stunning and flawless physique adds so much of originality to the role of a policeman. His controlled acting needs praise and action sequences are just the platform for him to excel and shine. Atharvaa’s tailor-made presence provides the intensity to the story that it needs. However, he needs to work a bit on his comedies and romance but he is not the only person to blame here. The love track in the first half was never needed for this script, and we're glad Hansika wasn’t used in the second half.
If Yogi Babu’s duty was to evoke laughter and bring in a lighter vein to the plot, sadly, it has not succeeded. Maybe it clicked in a scene or two but Yogi Babu was wasted on most occasions. Radha Ravi is an interesting addition; he is a delight to watch when offered a role that challenges him to perform. Cheenu Mohan has as usual delivered his best, earnestly. Naren serves the purpose with nothing much to complain about.
With a lot of time spent on establishing the foreground of the story, 100 picks up pace only before the pre-interval mark. The second half looked way better and does arrest our attention almost till the very end even though we might predict some of the twists well in advance. The climax twist looked force-fitted and unconventional. Though it wasn’t predictable, we tend to question the logic behind it. If you do not question the sensibilities behind it, there shouldn’t be a problem sitting through.
Talking all bullshit right through the film and just having a social message during the flag end of the film makes no sense. Sadly, most Tamil films follow this practice to attract people; 100 is no different.
Krishnan Vasant's glossy camera work has given a big facelift to the film. Sam CS’s thumping background score elevates the scenes while sound design creates a strong aura. The duet song and Atharvaa’s intro track could have easily been done away with, to make the film crisper and to the point.
[Rating and verdict will be published after the public screening]
