Suriya's recent release NGK under the direction of Selvaraghvan managed to do a decent job but on the whole, the movie was kind of a let down for the fans. The actor will now move on to his next release Kaappan directed by KV Anand and the movie is set for a big release in August.

On another track, Suriya signed an exciting project titled Soorarai Potru with director Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru fame. Suriya and the team kicked off the shoot in April with a formal pooja. Soorarai Potru has Aparna Balamurali as the lady lead with Jackie Shroff and Karunas in important roles. Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment in association with Guneet Monga, the film has music by GV Prakash.

With the shoot in progress, Suriya has revealed that the veteran Tollywood actor Mohan Babu has been roped into the cast of Soorarai Potru. As Mohan Babu joined the sets of Soorarai Potru, Suriya took it to Twitter to welcome the actor with a warm message.

Suriya tweeted,

"Such a pleasure to be on sets with @themohanbabu Sir, A Legend full of life and great discipline. From his first stint in a garage to his inspiring journey of more than 500 films. It’s a wonderful learning experience. Thank you sir for being part of #SooraraiPottru 🙏🏽"

Reports suggest that Mohan Babu will be playing a prominant role in the film and it will be a performance oriented one. Mohan Babu has acted in Tamil movies like Rajinikanth's Annai Oru Aalayam (1979), Shivaji's Vetriku Oruvan (1979), and Kamal Haasan's Guru (1980). Guru was his last proper Tamil movie and additionally, the actor was seen in a special appearance in Keerthy Suresh's Telugu-Tamil bilingual Nadigaiyar Thilagam (2018).
