Noted playback singer Krishna Kumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK who has sung a number of popular songs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu, has bagged the Singer of the Year award, instituted by cultural outfits Eenam and Swaralaya.
He was selected for the popularity of his songs, G. Rajmohan, Chairman, Kerala Chapter of Eenam, said after declaring the award. The songs 'Mazhaneerthullikal' (Beautiful) by Unni Menon and Chinni chinni' (Urmi) by Manjari have been choosen as the 'songs of the year'.
Singer of the Year award comprises a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a citation. The other singers will receive a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation at an event to be held in April. The singers were selected through an online poll.
