Jai Bolo Telangana: Activists disrupt screening of films

In protest against Censor Board’s decision of not giving clearance to director N.S. Shankar’s Jai Bolo Telangana, based on the decades old Telangana agitation, Telangana activists disrupted the screening of Telugu films produced and directed by Seema-Andhra people, in more than 30 theatres in 10 districts on Wednesday.

The Censor Board refused to clear Jai Bolo Telangana, saying that it contains some sarcastic remarks against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and several Seema-Andhra leaders.

As a result of this protest, the collections of many Telugu films such as Wanted, Mirapakaya, Parama Veera Chakra, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Golconda High School and Ala Modalaindi were affected for the morning show; in some places, the disruption continued for the matinee show as well. The Telangana activists burned effigies of Censor Board and the posters of Wanted and Golconda High School.

"While the Censor Board does not hesitate to clear violent and pornographic movies, it is ironic that JBT is facing objections," Telangana Students Joint Action Committee leader Waliullah Qadri said.
