Telugu actor Sumanth Akkineni has been in the news for the past couple of days after rumours sprung up stating that he was going to get married to a person named Pavithra. There were reports stating the couple had begun sending out their wedding invitations to their family members and close friends after a photo of a marriage invite went viral on social media. The wedding invitation carrying the initials 'SP' led to speculations about Sumanth tying the knot with Pavithra, with fans extending their wishes to the actor. In that light, blockbuster Telugu filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma had also posted a tweet addressing the talk surrounding Sumanth's wedding for which the actor has now issued a clarification on video denying the speculations and rumours completely, while also informing that the photo of the marriage invitation was from an upcoming film. Sumanth shared the clarification video on his Twitter page in which he states: "Hey everyone. There has been news circulating that I'm going to get married once again. Just to clarify, I'm not getting remarried in real life. However, my next film happens to be about divorce and remarriage. Perhaps for the first time in Telugu cinema, a photo of the wedding invitation from the shooting of that film leaked on social media. And, that probably caused this misunderstanding. The title and the first look of this film will be out shortly and I'm really excited about this one. And, to the media, thanks for your continuing support." Watch Sumanth’s clarification below:

Sumanth was previously married to former South Indian actress Keerthi Reddy in 2004, whom Tamil cinema fans know her best for her performances in films like Devathai, Nandhini, Jolly, Iniyavale and most notably the Prabhu Deva-starrer Ninaivirukkum Varai. They divorced amicably in 2006 after two years of marriage. Although Keerthi remarried and went on to settle in the US, Sumanth continued working in the Telugu film industry.

To the uninitiated, Sumanth Akkineni is the son of Surendra Yarlagadda and Satyavathi Akkineni and the eldest grandchild of legendary Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. On the work front, he will next be seen in an upcoming action drama film titled Anaganaga Oka Rowdy, which is gearing up for a theatrical release. Sumanth entered the Telugu film industry and played the lead in blockbuster director Ram Gopal Varma's Prema Katha. He subsequently went on to star in films like Satyam (2003), Gowri (2004), Godavari (2006), Madhumasam (2008) among a few others. Incidentally, he portrayed his grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao in NTR: Kathanayakudu and NTR: Mahanayakudu, which were biopics based on the real life and acting career of N. T. Rama Rao, with Nandamuri Balakrishna playing the titular role.
