Earlier today (November 2), Hansika Motwani made headlines after getting engaged to her boyfriend, Sohael Khaturiya. She took to her social media where she shared her dreamy proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower to her 5.6 million fans and followers. The couple will formally make the wedding announcement in the coming days. Sohael Khaturiya is a a Mumbai-based entrepreneur who Hansika had been dating before they eventually fell in love and decided to tie the knot. This is not the first time an actress in the film industry is getting married to an entrepreneur/businessman as it has happened plenty of time. On that note, let us look at such instances of that occuring. 

1) ASIN:

She married entrepreneur Rahul Sharma who is the founder of YV Televentures and co-founder of Micromax Informatics, an Indian multinational manufacturer of consumer electronics and home appliances. The couple tied the knot back in January of 2016 and welcomed their first child, Arin Sharma, one year later on the 24 October 2017. 

2) SHILPA SHETTY:

She fell in love and tied the knot to London-based businessman Raj Kundra, who was ranked as the 198th richest British Asian by Success. Together they co-owned the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Rajasthan Royals. The two married in a traditional ceremony on 22 November 2009 and are now parents to a son and a daughter. The former was born on 21 May 2012, while the latter was born on 15 February 2020 via surrogacy. The duo had met each other for the first time in London for a business meeting where Raj was helping out Shilpa with the promotion of her perfume brand named ‘S2’.

3) ESHA DEOL:

She tied the knot with her childhood friend and businessman Bharat Takhtani on 29 June 2012 in a low-key ceremony at ISKON temple, Mumbai. Bharat is a diamond merchant who runs a company called R.G. Bangle Pvt. Ltd. The couple are blessed with two daughters - Radhya and Miraya.

4) SONAM KAPOOR:

The Bollywood fashionista got married to Anand Ahuja on 8 May 2018 in a traditional Sikh ceremony at her Bandra residence in Mumbai. Anand is a renowned fashion entrepreneur and owns the fashion brand Bhane. Besides that, Anand is also the Managing Director of one of India’s largest export houses called ‘Shahi Exports’. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja welcomed their son Vayu Kapoor Ahuja earlier this year on 20 August 2022. 

5) RAMBHA:

This ex-film actress married Indhran Pathmanathan on 8 April 2010, in Tirumala, a spiritual town in Tirupati district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Rambha fell in love with Indhran after her numerous encounter with him as brand ambassador. He is the founder and chairman of Magickwoods, a kitchen and bathroom manufacturing firm based in Canada. As a result of their happy marriage, she gave birth to a daughter, Laanya in Toronto on 13 January 2011 and on 31 March 2015 she delivered another baby girl, Sasha. 

6) SAMEERA REDDY:

Sameera married Akshai Varde in a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony. Akshai is a well-known name in the motorcycle industry as he co-owns Vardenchi Motorcycles which customises motorcycles. They dated for around two years before they finally decided that it was time for them to take the plunge on on 21 January 2014. The couple welcomed son Hans Varde in 2015 and later their daughter Nyra Varde in 2019.

7) REEMA SEN:

She married Shiv Karan Singh in 2012 at a farmhouse near Vasanth Kunj in New Delhi. It was a traditional Punjabi wedding. The two share a son named Rudraveer Singh who was born on 22 February 2013. Shiv Karan Singh is a hotelier, restauranteur and a Delhi-based entrepreneur. 

8) LAILA:

She married Mehdi, an Irani businessman, on 6 January 2006. The couple dated for eight years before marriage and  were engaged for four years before marriage. They now share 2 sons. 

9) SIMRAN:

She and Deepak Bagga grew up together as kids, as he lived next to her aunt's house. The two married on 2 December 2003 and share two children, Adheep Odo who was born 11 June 2005 and Aadit Veer who was born 16 March 2011. Deepak is one of the directors of Arigem Movies Private Limited. 

10) POOJA KUMAR:

The Miss India USA 1995 winner who shot to fame after appearing in the Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam is married to Vishal Joshi, the CEO of a wedding-planning company called Joy. The couple share a daughter named Naavya Joshi who was born in 2020.

11) SHRIYA SARAN:

She and her Russian boyfriend Andrei Koscheev tied the knot at a fairytale wedding in Udaipur on 19 March 2018. They now have a daughter who was born on 10 January 2021. Andrei is a popular Russian Tennis player and an entrepreneur. He is a motivational speaker and a prominent personality among the people of Russia.

12) PRIYAMANI:

She first saw her future beau, Mustafa Raj, during an IPL (Indian Premier League) match in Bangalore where Priyamani was the brand ambassadors of one of the teams playing the tournament whereas Mustafa Raj was the event manager of the tournament. Mustafa works as an event organizer and the two had a private wedding ceremony on 23 August 2017. 

13) NAMITHA:

She married her boyfriend, businessman Veerendra Chowdary, in Tirupathi in November 2017. The couple also share a child.

14) KAJAL AGGARWAL:

After being friends for 7 years and dating for 3, she married Gautam Kitchlu  in a small, private ceremony in her hometown of Mumbai on 30 October 2020. Gautam is an Indian entrepreneur and businessman who is the founder of an interior designing company called Discern Living that sells furniture and decor items. They now are parents to their baby boy Neil Kitchlu who was born earlier this year on 9 April 2022.
