Deva Katta on his second venture

Deva Katta made a splash in Tollywood with his peppy Vennela (2005), which got wide recognition from young and urban audiences for its nice music and comedy, besides introducing good actors like Vennela Kishore and Ravi Varma. This Indian-born American-resident filmmaker is now back with his second venture.

"I prepared a story with intense character drama and travel in a political backdrop, to be shot in Vijayawada. After considering Jagapati Babu and Sumanth for the lead role, I finally zeroed in on Sharwanand. Sai Kumar will also play a key role. Ruby, a Delhi-based model, is the heroine. We will startshooting the movie on 10 June and release it for Deepavali," the director said.

Lady cinematographer Savita Singh, who won laurels for her quality work in Phoonk, makes her Telugu debut with this film produced by Ravi Vallabhaneni under the banner of VRC Media Entertainment.

When asked why there is a gap between Vennela and his second film, Deva Katta said: "At the time of Vennela, my wife was appearing for Dental school entrance exams in USA and I was waiting for my citizenship in USA. Now, everything is settled. In the meantime, I narrated various scripts to heroes like Mahesh Babu and Ravi Teja, but there seemed to be some gap between their perception of heroism and my perception of heroism."
