Veteran Telugu actor Vedam Nagaiah breathed his last on Saturday, March 27. As per the online reports, Nagaiah was suffering from age related health problems for the last few months. On Saturday, he was declared dead. He was 77 years old. Nagaiah hails from Desavaram Peta in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Nagaiah is best known for his impactful performance as Ramulu in the critically acclaimed Telugu film, Vedam, that had Allu Arjun, Manchu Manoj, and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles. The film was later remade in Tamil as Vaanam with Silambarasan TR. After the success of Vedam, Nagaiah went on to act in several blockbuster hit films like Naga Chaitanya's Ye Maaya Chesave, Venkatesh's Nagavalli, Ravi Teja's Balupu, Mahesh Babu's Spyder, and more.

Director Krish was the one who noticed the actor inside Nagaiah and made him debut through Vedam. Talking about how he got the chance to act in Vedam, Nagaiah, in one of his earlier interviews, had said, "Krish spotted me on the streets of Hyderabad and called me to his office. When I went there, he asked me to tell a dialogue which was written on a piece of paper. As soon as I narrated it, he signed me up for a role in Vedam. We shot the film for over six months and soon after its release, many other filmmakers approached with me roles".

Actress Anushka Shetty mourned the unfortunate demise of Vedam Nagaiah on her official social media pages. Sharing a throwback picture with him, Anushka wrote, "A good soul has ascended to heaven today 😔 My deepest condolences to family of Nagaiah garu and may god bless and comfort them during this time of grief Om Shanthi 🙏🏼".
