It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5693 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 502,759! Of these, 994 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 148,584! Kancheepuram has recorded 189 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 19,425, while 1,273 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 30,366 total cases of which 1,987 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 28,325 cases with 2,087 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 490 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 309 new cases and Thiruvallur has recorded 300 new cases!
There have been 74 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8381. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 148,584 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 47,012 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,393! There have been 5,717 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 447,366. There have been 84,308 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 5,888,086 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
