It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5528 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 486,052! Of these, 991 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 145,586! Kancheepuram has recorded 173 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 18,967, while 1,249 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 29,507 total cases of which 2,380 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 27,416 cases with 2,067 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 440 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 300 new cases and Thiruvallur has recorded 296 new cases!
There have been 64 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8154. The number of deaths per day has been remaining below 100 for some days now with today being the lowest in a long time! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 145,586 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 48,482 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,845! There have been 6185 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 429,416. There have been 85,473 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 5,630,323 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
