It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 3,094 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 694,030! After 99 days of continuously recording over 4,000 new cases each day, Tamil Nadu has been recording less than 4,000 cases for three consecutive days now! Of these, 857 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 191,754! Kancheepuram has recorded 93 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 24,575, while 694 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 41,645 total cases of which 1,670 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 36,307 cases with 1,315 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 263 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 19 new cases and Salem recorded 169 new cases!
There have been 50 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,741. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 191,754 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 36,734 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,845! There have been 4,403 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 646,555. There have been 80,371 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 9,112,067 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 78,903 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 8,858,983! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
