Oct 16 - TN COVID Update: 4,389 New Cases | 57 New Deaths | Total - 679,191 Cases & 10,529 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 4,389 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 679,191! Of these, 1,140 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 187,852! Kancheepuram has recorded 130 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 24,166, while 819 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 40,729 total cases of which 1,936 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 35,654 cases with 1,413 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 387 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 261 new cases and Salem recorded 244 new cases! 

There have been 57 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,529. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 187,852 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 40,959 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,289! There have been 5,245 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 627,703. There have been 91,245 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 8,766,038 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 89,497 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 8,519,238!
