It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,489 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 619,996! Of these, 1,348 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 172,773! Kancheepuram has recorded 146 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 22,536, while 893 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 37,150 total cases of which 2,599 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 33,303 cases with 1,727 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 474 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 381 new cases and Salem recorded 357 new cases!
There have been 66 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,784. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 172,773 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,120 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,283! There have been 5,558 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 564,092. There have been 84,159 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,700,011 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
