Nov 21 - TN COVID Update: 1,663 New Cases | 18 New Deaths | Total - 768,640 Cases & 11,586 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,663 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 768,640! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 2,000 cases, for the past few days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has gone below 500 for the first time in months, in these recent days! 486 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 211,555! Kancheepuram has recorded 92 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 27,199 and 467 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 46,717 total cases of which 887 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 40,265 cases with 664 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 148 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 116 new cases and Thiruvallur recorded 114 new cases!
There have been 18 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,586. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 211,555 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 12,916 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 4,498! There have been 2,133 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 743,838. There have been 69,190 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 11,470,429 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 68,479 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 11,184,919! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
