Nov 16 - TN COVID Update: 1,725 New Cases | 17 New Deaths | Total - 759,916 Cases & 11,495 Deaths

The official numbers of the COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu have been released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 1,725 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 759,916! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu has finally begun recording less than 2,000 cases, over the past few days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has gone below 500 for the first time in months! 497 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 209,167! Kancheepuram has recorded 79 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 26,822 and 483 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 46,027 total cases of which 912 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 39,696 cases with 753 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 174 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 118 new cases and Thiruvallur recorded 83 fresh cases!
There have been 17 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 11,495. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 209,167 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 15,765 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 4,978! There have been 2,384 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 732,656. There have been 63,777 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 11,136,662 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 62,982 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 10,854,878! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
