July 27 - TN COVID Update: 6993 New Cases | 77 New Deaths | Total - 220,716 Cases & 3571 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers have overtaken the last couple of days' to give Tamil Nadu the third consecutive day of numbers nearing 7000 and today has recorded the most number of new cases for a single day, ever! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 6993 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 220,716! Of these, 1155 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 95,826! Madurai has recorded 249 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 10057, while 2032 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 12717 total cases of which 3304 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 12320 cases with 3998 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 448 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 474 new cases and Kancheepuram has recorded 362 new cases!
There have been 77 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 3571. The number of deaths per day has finally come down from the 80s to the 70s! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 95,826 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 54,896 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,064! The number of recoveries has seen a very good increase over the last few days! There have been 5723 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 162,246. There have been 63,250 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,414,713 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
