July 15 - TN COVID Update: 4496 New Cases | 68 New Deaths | Total - 151,820 Cases & 2167 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 4496 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 151,820! Of these, 1291 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 80,942! Madurai has recorded 341 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 7331, while 3347 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 8741 total cases of which 2269 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 7573 cases with 3104 of them being currently active. Tiruvallur alone has recorded 278 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thoothukudi registered 269 new cases, taking the total to 2766, of which 1619 are currently active!
There have been 68 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 2167. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 80,942 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 47,340 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 15,606! The number of recoveries is continuing to be good and the numbers for the last 24 hours are the highest ever for a single day! Today, also marks the first time that the recoveries have surpassed the infections by a significant margin! There have been 5000 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 102,310. There have been 41,382 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 1,736,747 tests, which is the highest for any state in the country!
