It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 945 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 817,077! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,500 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 400 in these recent days and finally went below 300 over the past couple of days! 275 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 225,252! Kancheepuram has recorded 37 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 28,697 and 298 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 49,956 total cases of which 583 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 42,609 cases with 400 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 91 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu has recorded 48 cases and Kancheepuram has recorded 37 new cases each! 

There have been 17 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,109. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 225,252 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 8,615 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 2,678! There have been 1,060 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 796,353. There have been 70,196 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 14,122,733 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 69,843 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 13,819,720! There are reports that the overall COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
