Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday issued a new bulletin to the media regarding the number of coronavirus cases in the state. The government has been hard at work in tracing and testing those who have been affected with the latest update now showing 1,685 people in the state getting infected with the COVID-19 virus in the course of the past 24 hours. The state's tally currently stands at 34,914 coronavirus positive cases with the numbers for June 9 by far the highest recorded to date. Chennai city has been the most affected district and city in the state with the day registering 1,243 cases with the total now reaching 24,545 and has many in shock wondering how far the disease will continue to spread its wings.

The day has also seen 21 people succumbing to the deadly effects of the coronavirus with the state's death toll currently standing at 307. On the other hand, the past 24 hours have seen a significant improvement in the number of people who have recovered with 798 patients getting discharged taking the total number of people recuperating from the infection to 18,325. Tamil Nadu has been making considerably good progress on the recoveryof patients and the momentum is picking up with each passing day.

The government has been urging people to adhere to maintaining social distancing when out in public while also issuing regular instructions to practice wearing masks. Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday also started an additional helpline number for COVID-19-related ambulance services - 044-4006 7108, which will be operational along with 108.
