Director Vijay's horror-romance Devi made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi is making a grand entry with more than 3000 screens across the globe. The film has Prabhu Deva, Tamannaah and Sonu Sood in the lead. Devil is produced by Prabhu Deva Studios and is released on a wide scale by Auraa Cinemas.
The story revolves around a newly married couple (Prabhu Deva and Tamannaah), who moves to their ancestral home in Mumbai. Trouble brews when the lady is haunted by a ghost. How will the couple resolve the issue? What happens next forms the rest of the story!
Devi gives an excellent platform for Tamannah to perform as well as impress. She appears as a village belle and as well as a successful heroine. The actress needs a special mention for her effortless dancing skills and we know, it is not easy to match the steps of Prabhu Deva.
Kudos to director Vijay for choosing Prabhu Deva as the lead man. Nobody would have done the character better than him. He adds a dash of humour in every dialogue.
Unlike the regular horror flicks, this Vijay-directorial doesn't have an overdose of any emotions. Whether it is chasing the ghost, or charting out a mutual agreement or the romantic portions, everything is subtle and simple.
Interestingly, director Vijay has left a knot at the end for a possible sequel attempt.
RJ Balaji provides the right humour factor while Nassar and Sathish does a cameo scene.
Music by Sajid-Wajid is good while Manush's Nandan's camera works are excellent. Vijay's engaging narration is another key in the film.
The film is made with Bollywood audience on minds, there are many sequences where fans down South might not be able to relate.
The film could have been tweaked a little especially in the first half.
Verdict: A Delightful Horror Thriller!
A Delightful Watch!
