Cinematographer Ravi K.Chandran is turning director with Yaan, which stars Jiiva and Thulasi in the lead roles. At the press meet held today in Chennai, the cinematographer-turned-director revealed that the title Yaan signifies the journey of a person from a guy to a man, and that he was inspired to make the movie from a story he read in a magazine.

Jiiva, Thulasi, Nasser, Thambi Ramaiah, Jayaprakash, yesteryear actress and Thulasi's mother Radha, producers Elred Kumar and Jayaraman were present at the press meet.

On being asked why he chose to direct his first movie in Tamil, Ravi K. Chandra stated that being a Tamilian, he is more comfortable in Tamil than any other language and thus chose to make his first film in Tamil.

Over 65% shoot of Yaan, touted to be a full-on commercial entertainer, has been completed, with just the pre-climax, climax and some other scenes yet to be shot. The team will soon fly to Morocco for the next schedule, to shoot an action sequence.
