Following the blockbuster success of his political thriller Lucifer, Superstar Mohanlal has announced his directorial debut. Titled Barroz, this 3-D film is said to be the most expensive film ever made in Malayalam.

He is turning a director after completing nearly four decades as an actor. Meanwhile, as per latest reports, Barroz's shooting will kickstart in October this year. Apart from directing the movie, Mohanlal also plays the titular role of Barroz who is the custodian of Portuguese adventurer Vaso D'Gama's treasure.

This film's story will be written by Jijo Punnoose, known for making India's first 3-D movie, My Dear Kuttichathan. It will have a huge line up of actors including Hollywood artists, said Mohanlal recently on his blog. The project will be bankrolled by Lucifer producer, Antony Perumbavoor under Ashiravad Cinemas. Mohanlal has recently wrapped shooting of his period flick, Kunjali Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham' directed by Priyadarshan.
