Actor turned politician S. Ve. Shekhar has landed in hot water after his recent statements against female journalists drew massive criticism from people across Tamil Nadu.
The issue gained steam when S. Ve. Shekhar, on his Facebook page had posted his views against a particular female journalist, who had raised an issue against Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who had patted her cheek at a recent press meet.
S. Ve. Shekhar subsequently went on to delete the post on his Facebook page after an many caused an uproar over his statements.
Meanwhile, actor and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal had taken to his Twitter page to speak against S. Sve. Shekhar’s statements calling them "condemnable".
His tweet when translated is as follows: "Women have risen to the top in media in India over the past few years, and in particular in Tamil Nadu. The recent harmful statements made by S. Ve. Shekar against female journalists are condemnable especially at a time when we are on the path to women empowerment dreamt by Periyar. I understand how much this issue would have hurt the sentiments of the many friends I have in the media industry. I am very angry and not just as an actor, but as a friend of theirs."
