Vetrimaaran's thriller drama Visaaranai, was screened yesterday at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival in the Orizzonti competitive category. Produced by Danush, under his banner Wunderbar Films, the film is based on the brutality of police investigation. Visaaranai has Attakathi Dinesh, Anandhi and Aadukalam Murugadoss in central roles.

Reportedly, the film is an adaptation of the book titled 'Lock Up', written by an auto driver named Chandrakumar. The book is based on Chandrakumar's experiences in the Guntur district police station, where he and two of his friends were tortured physically for 13 days for no reason. Moved by the book, the director of Polladhavan and Aadukalam approached the Coimbatore based auto driver-cum-writer to discuss adapting the story into a film. And that led to the production of Visaaranai.

The trailer of the film has created huge expectations among audiences, who eagerly await the release of the film!
