Singer Vijay Yesudas carved a niche for himself despite starting off in the film industry as the son of legendary singer K. J. Yesudas. It was his determination and hardwork that has catapulted him to be one of the most sought-after singers in south India with several hit songs in Tamil to his name such as Kodi Kodi Minnalgal (Jayam), Kadhal Mattum Purivathillai (Kadhal Kondein), Nizhalinai Nijamum (Raam), Dhavani Potta Deepavali (Sandakozhi), Pulpesum Poopesum (Pudhupettai), Kadhal Vaithu (Deepavali), Seval Kodi (Billa) among many others.

Vijay Yesudas also made heads turn with his acting performance in the smash 2015 hit film Maari starring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal.

Fast forward to 2018, Vijay Yesudas is all set to star as the lead in the upcoming film, Padai Veeran. Directed by Dhana, the film also stars Amritha Aiyer as the female lead along with iconic filmmaker Bharathiraja in a vital role produced under the Evoke Production banner with music by Karthik Raja.

Meanwhile, during an exclusive interview with Galatta as part of the promotion for his Padai Veeran which is slated for a February 2 release, Vijay Yesudas revealed how Mani Ratnam wanted to use the hit 'Avalum Naanum' song from Simbu's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada composed by A. R. Rahman in O Kadhal Kanmani.

He stated, "The 'Avalum Naanum' song in Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada was initially composed for OK Kanmani. I don’t think it’s going to be a problem if I reveal it now, but it was dropped from being included in Mani Ratnam’s film. Although the song was not shot after I sang it then, Mani Ratnam wanted to use it in his film in an audio format. However, A. R. Rahman pulled back from the idea and decided to use the song later for another film. And, that is how the song went to Gautham Menon and we made few minor changes and he used it in his AYM."

An interesting and unheard story no doubt. You can know more from Vijay Yesudas in our exclusive interview here.
