One of the biggest film announcements came out just a few days back when it was revealed 'Superstar' Rajinikanth would be teaming up with acclaimed young director Karthik Subbaraj for a film next.

The announcement no doubt was a massive one and took everybody by surprise since many had anticipated Rajinikanth would be calling it quits after his upcoming films, which includes Kaala releasing first on April 27.

He also has to his lineup the much awaited sci-fi action thriller, 2.0, under Shankar’s direction produced by Lyca productions, which is currently in its post-production stages.

Meanwhile, the Rajinikanth-Karthik Subbaraj film to be produced by Sun Pictures had roped in composer Anirudh Ravichander to score the music few days back.

In the midst of this, there have been reports off late stating Vijay Sethupathi was being eyed for the role of the antagonist in this highly prestigious project.

Although still a speculation at this point, there are fresh reports across certain sections of the media which say the 'Makkal Selvan' is indeed part of the film and that an official announcement from the makers of the upcoming film would follow up soon.

It must be noted Vijay Sethupathi already has a packed film lineup ahead this year with nearly 7 films in active production and 2 films in early developmental stages.

We will now just have to wait for that elusive announcement now. If this indeed turns out to be true, it would no doubt be the most exciting news of this year.
