An elective course in television production discovered the director in him. He then discontinued his Masters degree to pursue a career in the film world. And his film went on to create history by winning six prestigious National Awards. We are in fact talking about one of Kollywood's most prominent director Vetrimaaran.

The director celebrates his birthday today and Galatta.com wishes him a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.

After assisting director Balu Mahendra and Kadhir, Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut with Polladhavan in 2007. The film went on to become a blockbuster and was also a turning point in Dhanush's career. His next venture Aadukalam again with Dhanush won six National Awards, including the awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor. His next venture is Vada Chennai, which is on hold temporarily meanwhile there are also reports that he will team up with Dhanush for another venture soon. Vetrimaaran also launched his own production house, Grass Root Film Company recently and his maiden project is titled NH 45, directed by his assistant Manigandan, with Siddharth in the lead role. Scripted and written by Vetrimaaran, the story of the film is taken from his maiden project Desiya Nedunchalai 47, which was shelved earlier.

We wish him all the very best for his future endeavors.
