A film that has been long in the making, National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai has been a highly debated film among film aficionados.

Produced under Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films banner with music by Santhosh Narayanan, the first installment in the planned Vada Chennai trilogy is slated for release this year.

A gangster action drama, Vada Chennai will feature Dhanush as Anbu, a national level carrom player, with the story starting in the 1970s and progressing over a time period of 35 years.

Although production wrapped up a couple of months back, not much had been heard from the film’s camp until now when Dhanush during a recent media interaction revealed Vetrimaaran was in the process of beginning preparations for the final edit.

This is no doubt joyous news for Dhanush’s fans as they have been waiting with bated breath for the film’s first visuals to arrive, which we can now believe will be unveiled in the coming months.

Actress Aishwarya Rajesh plays the female lead with her character named as Padma.

Not much has been revealed about actress Andrea Jeremiah’s role in Vada Chennai apart from her character’s name being Chandra, who is paired opposite director turned actor Ameer Sultan.

Vada Chennai includes an ensemble star cast featuring names like Samuthirakani, Kishore, Daniel Balaji, Karunas, and Daniel Annie Pope among others in vital supporting roles.
