Velai Illa Pattadhari happens to be one of the biggest blockbusters in Dhanush’s career, who also produced the film under his Wunderbar Films banner in 2014 with reputed cinematographer Velraj in the director’s chair and smash hit songs by Anirudh Ravichander.

VIP was also dubbed in Telugu under the Raghuvaran B. Tech title and went on to taste good success in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana states as well.

Meanwhile, a remake in Marathi under the title Mahja Naav Shivaji has been made by Pranita Pawar and Chakraborty, which has now been found to be an out-and-out copy of Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattadhari, along with the songs “What a Karvaad” and “Oodhungada Sangu” also featured in it.

Wunderbar Films brought the issue to the notice of the Madras High Court, who then ordered Pranita Pawar to furnish the profit details through the movie as well as pay for the legal charges incurred by Dhanush’s production house to file the case.

Furthermore, the makers of Mahja Naav Shivaji have been ordered to surrender the entire stock of software, digitised master copies, master cassettes, master HD/DVD/CDs, sound recordings, literature, pamphlets and all other material related to their movie to Wunderbar Films.
