Actor Vadivelu’s name trended globally recently after the “Pray for Neasamani” tag became viral across social networking forums. The iconic comedian had in an interview spoken about how his film, Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, was developed before its release in 2006. Lovingly called by fans as ‘Vaigai Puyal’, Vadivelu recently made remarks about the film’s directors Chimbudevan and Shankar, who served as the producer on the blockbuster historical comedy. Many have since then condemned his statements including filmmaker turned actor Samuthirakani too chiming in to express his dissatisfaction at the recent turn of events.

Samuthirakani took to his Twitter page and stated the following: "I recently watched brother Vadivelu’s interview. His statements about directors Shankar and Chimbudevan are uncivilized and need to be condemned. Chimbu’s creativity is visible in his works apart from Pulikesi. Please don’t degrade filmmakers."

Vadivelu had begun filming Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi’s sequel titled Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi in 2017, before production was brought to a complete halt. Fans were quite excited when the announcement about the second installment came out for the 2006 original, which went on to become a box office blockbuster. The last time the comedy superstar was seen on the big screen was in ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Mersal and fans have since been waiting to witness him once again in action.
