Last week, we had reported production on National Award-winning director Vetrimaaran's upcoming action gangster drama, Vada Chennai was coming to a close.


Vada Chennai’s production first kicked off nearly two years back with Vetrimaaran teaming up with Dhanush once again after their smash success Polladhavan in 2007 and Aadukalam in 2010.

Jointly being produced by Lyca Productions, Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root Film Company and Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films with music by Santhosh Narayanan, production on the first installment of Vada Chennai has now officially been confirmed to have come to an end.


National Award-winning actor Samuthirakani, who plays a vital role in Vada Chennai - Part 1 took to his Twitter page to make the announcement along with a group photograph featuring director Ameer Sultan, Kishore, Daniel Balaji among many others.

The first installment of Vada Chennai will feature Aishwarya Rajesh as a girl hailing from the North Chennai background.


Actor Andrea Jeremiah’s role has been a secret and she too is said to be crucial to the proceedings of the film.


With filming on Vada Chennai - Part 1 now done, Vetrimaaran will now look to carry forward full-fledged with the post-production works. As for the promotional material, we can expect a first look from the film sometime soon.
