Directed by Senthil Kumar, Vaaimai stars Shanthanu and actress Bhanu of Thamirabharani fame in the lead roles. This film will also feature comedy king Goundamani in an important role.

It was heard that the film was based on the story about Perarivalan who is one of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. But the director has come out and stated that this film is not a biopic on the murder convict.
