Vijay Sethupathi's Idarkuthaney Aasaipattai Balakumara was released by the Studio 9 banner. Following this, it was announced that the Soodhu Kavvum actor would be working in a movie titled Vasanthakumaran, to be produced by Studio 9. However, after the first look posters were also released, the project did not take off. Recently, RK Suresh of Studio 9 made an announcement that they had lost a lot of money on Vasanthakumaran, because of Vijay Sethupathi taking an advance and not allotting dates for the movie and also not responding to any queries in this regard. Vijay Sethupathi responded by saying that he was willing to return the advance money with interest for the duration, but was no longer interested in doing the project due to differences of opinion with the makers. After a lot of bad blood and mud-slinging from both sides, there were reports that they would settle the matter amicably amongst themselves.

However, now the issue has flared up again. Vijay Sethupathi has issued a press release stating that he is planning to go to the Nadigar Sangam to help him resolve this issue if any further news of him starring in Vasanthakumaran or any threats are made towards him. Studio 9 have responded that they are not threatening Vijay Sethupathi in any way and that he is a friend and just want him to keep up the commitment of working in this movie. RK Suresh of Studio 9 has stated that he is even willing to rework the financials if Vijay Sethupathi wants and also make the movie on a grander scale, if required.

Let's hope this issue is resolved amicably between these former friends. Meanwhile, stay tuned for updates...
