One of the biggest films in recent times, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Sarkar directed by A. R. Murugadoss under the Sun Pictures banner has struck big time at the box office grossing over 100 crores withing two days into its release. The action political thriller, which also stars Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Pala. Karuppiah and Yogi Babu with music by A. R. Rahman has been entangled in a political controversy with the ruling state government after it hit screens this Diwali.
With many leading celebrities in the Tamil film industry Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan expressing their support for the Sarkar team over the film’s content, Tamizh Padam 2 director C. S. Amudhan took to his Twitter page to state his film released earlier this year was not given similar publicity.
I strongly object to the fact that we were not given similar publicity, we also tried our best. This is totally partisan behaviour. #IStandWithSarkaar
