Despite entering the 100 crore club in a span of two days, Sarkar starring ‘ThalapathyVijay, Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar alongside Radha Ravi, Pala. Karuppiah and Yogi Babu in supporting roles has become one of the most debated films in recent times. Produced under the Sun Pictures banner with music by A. R. Rahman, the action political drama has faced huge criticism from the ruling state government over a particular scene.

The said scene features director A. R. Murugadoss making a special guest appearance and disposing a mixer bearing veteran actor Pala. Karuppiah’s image into the fire. Unprecedented events transpired outside theatres across Tamil Nadu where the film's posters and banners were damaged.

In response to the controversy, the Sarkar team has now agreed to remove the specific scene from the film with the newly edited version planned to be played in theatres from today (November 9) afternoon.
