"Thalapathy's Mersal gave me a big opening in Tamil film industry"

The action drama, Mersal, released in 2017 under Atlee's direction saw 'Thalapathy' Vijay in triple role-playing characters namely Vetrimaaran, Maaran and Vetri alongside Nithya Menen, Samantha and Kajal Aggarwal as the female leads with 'Isaipuyal' A. R. Rahman's chartbuster music.
Produced by Thenandal Studios Limited, Mersal also featured Sathyaraj, SJ Suryah, Vadivelu, Kovai Sarala among others in supporting roles with the costume design also getting tremendous appreciation from all corners and became a trendsetter for the fashion equation.
Meanwhile, Mersal’s costume designer Neeraja Kona during an exclusive interview to Galatta, talks about how she went on to land the opportunity to work with Vijay saying her friendship with the film's heroine Samantha eventually paved the way for a meeting with Jagdish, an associate of Vijay and the rest is history since then.
Neeraja also recollects Mersal as being her career’s best till date as the film opened many big doors for her to reach great heights while also appreciating director Atlee’s dedication to bringing out on screen what he visualizes.
