With a career spanning 25 years, 'Thalapathy' Vijay has risen to the top in a spectacular manner.

Post the tremendous success of his Mersal last year, Vijay is now officially one of the biggest and most bankable stars for any producer.

The swashbuckling star is at present working under A. R. Murgadoss’s direction for the tentatively titled Thalapathy 62/Vijay 62 under the Sun Pictures banner with A. R. Rahman for the music and Keerthy Suresh as the female lead.

Vijay’s rise to such big fame first started when he starred in the blockbuster Poove Unakkaga released in 1996, which celebrated 22 years this week.

Incidentally, today (February 17) marks an important date for Vijay and his fans everywhere as he had appeared for the first time ever on the big screen as a child artiste in the film Vetri in 1984 under his father S. A. Chandrasekhar’s direction.

Vijay then went on to appear as a child artiste in five films till 1988 before arriving on the scene as a film hero in Naalaiya Theerpu in 1992.

And, there has been no stopping the 'Ilayathalapathy', who went on to be rechristened last year as 'Thalapathy'.
