Six months on, the aura surrounding 'Thalapathy' Vijay’s blockbuster Mersal hasn’t fizzled away. Produced by Thenandal Studios Limited with chart-buster music by A. R. Rahman, the film directed by Atlee marked it a hat-trick in the director's career.

A massive highlight in Mersal was the array of stars starting with SJ Suryah as the antagonist.

The film also had a stellar female cast lineup in the form of Nithya Menen going on to stay in the minds and hearts of the people with a powerful performance.

It was a third time reunion for Samantha opposite Vijay in Mersal after their Kaththi and Theri.

The same is to be said about Kajal Aggarwal, who played a crucial role in the film after her previous films, Thuppakki and Jilla.

Meanwhile, Mersal has now lapped up yet another international honor after being featured in the showreel of ARRI cameras which include blockbuster Hollywood films namely Blade Runner 2049, The Darkest Hour, The Greatest Showman, The Shape of WaterBlack Panther and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War to name a few.

Based out of Munich in Germany, ARRI has been a leading supplier and have been producing motion picture film equipment such as professional motion picture cameras, lenses, lighting and post-production equipment across the world.

The showreel’s producer Henning Rädlein spoke about the video featurette saying, "We look at the material and think - ‘What cool things they do!' This is us paying a tribute to the artistic work of the cinematographers. We wanted to make it shorter – but it just didn’t work out like that. It’s my honest appreciation of the work that cinematographers do – it’s not about us”.

This latest honor will no doubt be a tremendous boost for the film’s cinematographer GK Vishnu, who struck gold right in his debut film.

It must be noted Mersal also went on to win the Best Foreign Language Film award at the National Film Awards UK recently.

Mersal isn’t the only Indian film to be showcased in the ARRI showreel as the recent Bollywood epic period drama, Padmaavat, has been featured.

Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai has also been included in the showreel featurette.
