A film said to be of epic proportions already, Thalaivar 167 will see ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth joining hands with hit director A. R. Murugadoss for the first time with music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Touted to be produced by Lyca Productions, Thalaivar 167 already includes reputed names like Santosh Sivan for the cinematography, art direction by Santhanam and Niharikha Bhasin Khan overseeing the costume designs and will roll into production from April 10 in light of possible plans for a Pongal 2020 release.

Meanwhile, it has officially been confirmed now that actress Nayanthara has joined Thalaivar 167 to play the role of the female lead. The upcoming film will be the fourth time the actress will be seen alongside Rajinikanth in a film after their previous films - Chandramukhi, Sivaji and Kuselan.

That said, there have been rumors that many notable names have been roped in for Thalaivar 167 including reputed director turned actor, SJ Suryah, reportedly playing the antagonist after power-packed performances in Mahesh Babu's Spyder and 'Thalapathy' Vijay's mega blockbuster, Mersal

With no official statement on his casting in the film, Rajinikanth’s PRO has now issued a statement denying SJ Suryah's involvement as nothing else than mere rumors while also urging followers not to speculate for themselves and wait for a press release from the Thalaivar 167 team.
