With comicbook and superhero films in Hollywood remaining a strong trend for well over a decade, the demand from audiences to witness more and more in the genre is getting bigger by the day.

Among the many comicbook superheroes reigning at the top in terms of popularity, Wolverine from Marvel portrayed by Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise as well as solo films have gone on to become some of the most watched, lauded as well as criticized in the money-spinning genre.

With Hugh Jackman officially retiring his Adamantium claws in 2017’s critical and commercial blockbuster, Logan, fans have been wanting to know who would be cast as the next Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men films, if indeed the character were to make any further appearances in future films.

Meanwhile, fans will know Ajith’s upcoming film, Thala 59, an official remake of the smash hit Bollywood courtroom drama, Pink, which had Amitabh Bachchan, is being shot at Hyderabad right now.

Ajith had flown to Hyderabad only a couple of days back and pictures of the superstar en route to his destination for AK 59 became a trending topic yet again in social networking forums. The pictures showed the actor in a slimmed down avatar with a trimmed beard resembling the Hugh Jackman we got to see in the last Wolverine film, Logan, a couple of years back. Although the comparison between the two started as a meme, it has gained significance with many fans noticing a striking similarity in their appearances.

Ajith as a probable contender for Wolverine would not only be exciting, but also open the floodgates from Hollywood to Tamil cinema considering only a few south Indians have made it on the global stage among whom Ashok Amritraj became a notable producer, A. R. Rahman won the Academy Award followed by Resul Pookutty for sound design for Slumdog Millionaire

Wolverine, being a physical character, will require any actor to be in top physical form and Ajith has known to be one of the few stars, who can push himself to bend his limits for a character’s requirements as he has done on many occasions in the past including the time when he had shed massive weight for Paramasivan back in 2005-2006.

On the performance front, Ajith has scored top marks several times among which his skills in Varalaru is testimony enough to prove he can nail any role that will come his way. One of the most challenging roles, the actor went on to deliver a thunderous performance, which saw him acing the character of a Bharatanatyam dancer, who puts himself in self-exile bound to a wheelchair.

Although a far shot at this point of time, Ajith getting cast as the next Wolverine would no doubt be the biggest delight ever for his fans considering he clears all necessary aspects to portray the character frrom where Hugh Jackman left off in Logan - be it the physical attributes, his performance skills and his grit and determination, ‘Thala’ is perhaps the most fitting and deserving candidate from Tamil cinema and India now to pin our hopes on to be cast in the role, if Hollywood comes by looking in our country.
