Tamil Nadu State Awards: Rajni, Kamal best actors

Kollywood icons Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award�(best actors) for their stunning performances in Sivaji: The Boss (2007) and Dasavathaaram (2008) respectively. The government announced the awards for 2007 and 2008 on Monday.

This is the fourth time Rajinikanth has bagged the best actor state award, and for Kamal Haasan, it is the third time. Rajinikanth earlier won it for Muthu (1995), Padayappa (1999) and Chandramukhi (2005), while Kamal Haasan won it for Indian (1996) and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006).

Sivaji: The Boss swept many awards in various categories for 2007, with actors Vivek and Suman bagging the award for�best comedian and best villain respectively. Actress Jyotika was adjudged�best actress for her performance in Mozhi (2007).

For 2008, Dasavathaaram won the best film award, while Sneha won the�best actress award for her performance in Pirivom Santhipom. Director Radha Mohan won the best director award for Abhiyum Naanum. Maestro Ilayaraja is the best music director. Chief minister M. Karunanidhi bagged the best dialogue writer award for Uliyin Osai. Vadivelu is the best comedian and Kovai Sarala is the best comedienne. Nirav Shah (Billa) is the best cinematographer.
