A popular TV show, Solvathellam Unmai, hosted by actress Lakshmy Ramakrishnan has been one of the most debated programmes in Tamil Nadu. The show, which brings to light conflicts that arise within families and also emphasizes on other relevant social issues has drawn flak from a certain section of the society in recent times with a Mr. Kalyana Sundaram filing a petition in relation to the violation of the privacy of people’s rights.
Mr. Kalyana Sundaram in his petition has cited the Solvathellam Unmai show is ignoring the privacy rights of the people who participate. He further added the focus of the show predominantly lies on bringing higher TRP ratings to the channel. Likewise, the show is now in a bit of legal trouble as the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has ordered a stay on the show’s broadcast till June 18. Furthermore, the Court has also asked the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting along with the Managing Director of the respective TV channel to file their replies on the ongoing issue.
